Pet Sematary Question

Remember in the film where Fred Gwynne says:

"The soil of a man's heart is stonier.... Bedrock's close. A man grows what he can ... and he tends it."

I looked up and down Google and I couldn't find a good explanation to it.

What does it mean? I know the answer is not simple.

Essentially, it means something of the sorts that one takes only so much in their heart and when it's there, it's all they REALLY care about. Imagine if your heart was a totally fertile land. You'd either be constantly heart broke or you'd be the stuff of legends and cause changes everywhere.

Hmm, really? I heard it might be like a woman cand feel more then a man, that she can grow more affection in her heart and a man's heart is less fertile.
I don't know.
