Spray-Paint a design on a t shirt

I found this looking for DIY videos on youtube.

Basically, it teaches you how to make a stencil and spray paint a design onto a t shirt.

I made a Friedrich Nietzsche shirt. I'll post pictures later.

I drew the lines on with a sharpie, because you really couldn't tell what the heck it was.

you might want to try making a bit more detail on your next stencil, im working on an addams family stencil right now and its extreme detail so that it is able to be seen as the addams family

You can add detail without using a sharpie. Take an image and look for light and dark values in it. Draw your stencil out before you cut it out, so you can add the details into it. I used to do my stencils on my computer with Photoshop and the pen tool but it's easier now by hand for me. Also, don't use spray paint. Try acrylic paint mixed with fabric medium. You can get it from a craft store. Brush it on, or if you have an airbrush kit you can use that.

You can make the stencil from any stiff material, don't use cardboard, it sucks.

A good option for making the stencils is to trace the image you want on a sheet of paper, then rubber cement the paper to say, a manila folder; cut out the design with an exacto knife. Spray the back with spray adhesive, let it dry for a few minutes, then put it on your shirt. Then you won't have underspray like you got there. Though that won't matter if you just use a brush.

I wish I had a picture of some of the stencils I've made. Darn.
