Well, if Mary Sue characters are your thing, go for it. Her character (The series is actually by Laura K. Hamilton) can literally do anything. From hand-to-hand combat, to necromancy, to the dark arts, Anita Blake can do it all. And there's a lot of filler sex throughout the books, too, which fail to contribute anything to the main plot-line, or even to the characterization (well, what's present of those anyway). I found what I read boring, so I ended up giving the book back to my friend and telling her I couldn't push myself past the first chapter.

I don't know how I missed that considering I just learned the word bird in French and I already knew what black was.

But mine was just something I made up. At the time it seemed Goth and the whole thing right now just sounds emo, but I'm not changing it.

Wow, your REAL name is Raven? I rarely meet goths with a goth name. Last one I met, her name was Luna. That's somewhat dark.

Mine has several meanings. The Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) from the X-Men/Avengers comics. She's my favorite character and I always loved her code name. *is done geeking out*

Scarlet also happens to be my favorite color, and the name of my first carnivorous fish. Witch because I used to be a heavily practicing Wiccan but lately I've found almost everything spiritual somewhat...lacking.

Also, Scarlet Witch just sounds pretty cool to me. So, there. A bunch of explanations about my username :P

Hmm.

Well, I liked the FFVII movie. No, cancel that, I liked the Sephiroth/Cloud fight. So I looked up the game, played it, and liked how they called Sephiroth the "heartless angel".

This is sounding pretty fanboi-ish, huh?

Anyway, I realized that adding titles to the word "angel" was interesting. So, I came up with a name that kind of incorporated both sides of my intellect: my scientific, logical nature, and my romantic, spiritual side.

Ionic: scientific term, sounds interesting, is associated with science fiction, space travel, atomic energy, experiments, etc.

Angel: supernatural being, also used to refer to a person, other-worldly, etc.

So, Ionic Angel. That's me.

Catch is the name of a Cure song, "Catch." I feel like it represents people's perceptions of me. Not so much in truth, just the perception.

The chorus is:
"And she used to fall down a lot. That girl was always falling again and again. I used to sometimes try to catch her, but never even caught her name."

There are already two previous threads on this topic:

https://www.gothic.net/boards/showth...highlight=user

and

https://www.gothic.net/boards/showth...highlight=user

But anyway, Humane Pain was derived in a twofold manner:

a) I love the song Humane by Lacuna Coil, and sometimes depending on my mood it makes me cry, hence pain.

b) I am kind to some (humane) but can be cruel to others (a pain).

Yin/Yang
in the same name.
Lame? A shame!

My name is actually a name of my favorite crossover thrash bands: STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH. It's Scott Ian's (guitarist from Anthrax) sideproject from the late 80's. They're basically a fuck around band, parodies and such. I liked em a lot so I thought I'd go with it. This was back when I listened to metal. Those were the bad old days, thank god I discovered the Sex Pistols.

Korinna = name that I have been in love with for a hell of long time. I answer to it, and it's pretty much a second name.

5555 = my myspace url, originally 555, but that account was deleted by admin and I could't get that url for a while, so I added another 5.

Ah Humane! Anyone who watches boomerang knows the great classics as well!

My name? I'm very small and Raggedyanne became sort of an annoying nickname bestowed upon me by my older guy friends.

I've always wondered - why do girls bitch about being short? With guys, it's understandable as shallow girls (and even some surprisingly un-shallow ones, in my experience)seem less inclined to go out with a dude who's smaller than them. Is it just a matter of personal taste, or is there some standard more universal than I was previously aware that states that tall = good?

I may be misreading the words "annoying nickname", and maybe you don't mind it, but it's something I've always wondered in general.

On topic - my name stems from my belief that the world is, and will always be, irrevocably fucked.

LaBelleDameSansMerci is from a Keats poem, which means "Beautiful lady without mercy." If you take off the "La," the initials make BDSM.

None of these aspects of my name fit me though. I have quite a bit of mercy, and I've never quite done any BDSM stuff. The BDSM part was actually quite unintentional on my part.

I've switched to using "Rook" or "White Rook" since making this account, though, hence by picture of a rook.
Edit: I switched on other places, not here...

Shit, I feel like I have the most idiotic reason for my screen name here.

Long story short. Final Fantasy Seven, Eight, and Nine. Lead characters, plus one more, full names. Catchy acronym. Do the math.

My (nick)name has a long a stupid history. It was 1995ish, AOL just came out with version 3.0, and my parents decided to pick it up. I was in high school, and needed a screenname. Someone had already picked the names from the Dark Elf trilogy (which was new at the time), so I picked the name of a humble Orc linebacker from my Blood Bowl(tm) team. Throughout the ages, I've managed to keep it the same - no numbers or anything. Not very piratey, but I've not always been interested in pirates - believe it or not.
