I love my dad dearly, but...

He has this little..."hobby" of his that I cannot stand. My father is an atheist, and enjoys going into Christian voice chat-rooms and arguing with the people in there. Mind you, I don't care what he believes or what he does with his free time, and at first, I found it kind of funny. His online alias is "Pastor Harry"; a Southern Baptist preacher, who enjoys the occasional hooker and eightball. My complaint is that he does it ALL night (with the volume turned all the way up), which keeps me up night and that sometimes he will piss someone off good and proper, who will then hack into our computer and fuck things up...which always seems to happen when I'm doing something important.

And right now...I'm listening to him tell these people how he just got back from Vegas (which he really did) and how it is the land of Jesus...I have to be up for work at 4AM =(

Yes, I have. When he goes into the basement, he's even louder because he assumes no one can hear him. Sucks for me though, the heat vent in the basement is directly below the heat vent in my room.

The only thing that can be done about something like this is what others have suggested. Ask him a few times if he could keep the volume down, explain you're trying to get some rest etc etc..

If you haven't already I suggest listening to some music to drown out the other noises..perhaps a pair of large comfy headphones are in order.

How would wearing headphones make him less loud? Remember he's having voice chats so even if he's wearing headphones he'll still be loud.

Some earplugs for yourself would be a better idea.

But anyway, dude I'M Christian and even I find this a little funny and kind of awesome. I mean if these people are stupid enough to argue with in the dead of the night over religion then hey let them. SO funny. You know what scratch the " a little" and the "kind of".
