Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Mad World by Gary Jules totally because of watching Donnie Darko. It makes me sob everytime I see the end of the film when Donnie has died and his family are standing on the lawn grieving for him.
This Woman's Work by Kate Bush, mainly because of the film Jack and Sarah. It is played when Jack finds out that his wife has died during childbirth and he has a newborn to raise on his own.
Perfect Day by Lou Reed, it reminds me of time that I have spent with my friend Aaron, and that I will probably never be able to spend time quite like that with him again.

24 Hours - Joy Division
It really portrays Ian Curtis's feelings of alienation and loneliness... it really does make me think about death and all the things that go through my mind when I'm depressed.

"Into the sky" by Switchblade...the hopeless hope to become.
"Memorare" by Cruxshadows - Is not the most tragic thing about death not the loss of ones memories. Listen to it.
"Dead boy's poem" Obvious reasons for those who know me.

True Colors by Phil Collins. It was my mother's funeral song. So of course it makes me cry my eyes out .

Depending on my mood, could be everything from happy songs (eg. Alice In Videoland - Addicted) to gloomy ones (take It's Too Late by Paradise Lost)... or it could be nothing at all. Don't we love the moods ;D

Untitled by the cure is a very deep song, the vocals, rythm and lyrics are so touching-reminding me of my own expirences. Also, I think that "Crowds" by Bauhaus is quite sorrowful.

"Holding On" by VNV Nation. Most of their songs have a mood of hope and anticipation of the future, but this one is just the opposite. It's like the narrator had a total breakdown in his idealism. It's one of their most beautiful songs, though. I really hope they perform it when I see them in April.

Where can I get more vnv nation, I'm starting to love them.
Eversleeping by Xandria. I found out about this band going to canada. Taking the bus back away from her I was listening to the song and it just triggered something. I felt I would be the one traveling till I found that someone.
Postludium by Ragnarok. Towards the end it feels as an acceptance of death. To me at least.
Gebrechlichkeit by Burzum, don't know why to be honest.
Down where I am, and Fiddler on the green by demons & wizards from the lyrics alone.

The version of Mad World on Donnie Darko usually makes me cry, just reading the lyrics makes me want to cry -

Also Ana's Song by silverchair makes me cry because it's personal.

I have absolutely no idea if this is on topic, but a few years back when I was going through a really rough patch, Placebo used to make me feel incredibley fat. Which in my case was the equivilent of sad

I have no idea why, but for some reason Kate Bush makes me cry like a little girl, like, every time.
The songs "Tomorrow's Tears" and "Come This Far" by the Cranes always make me sad, too. Also, the last song on Disintegration always makes me feel like I've been punched in the somache.

Yeah, me too, it's called "Untiteled" and I honestly think it reflects my own life. The Cure, I've felt, has always spoken to me.

The Cure have always spoken to me, too. However, there are some songs of their I can't realy listen to anymore because they're just too damn emotionally painful (for various reasons, I guess). One is "Untitled", another is "Apart", and another is "M".
Another song that always makes me sad is (Shock! Surprise!) Joy Division's "A Means To An End".

Placebo used to make my Anorexia worse but now their songs just make think about sex (not very hard to do mind you) especially Taste In Men.

'I am the world' by mortiis makes me feel as though I'm in some sort of sacred place, don't ask me why.
If I sing along to 'hurt' by nine inch nails I get tears in my eyes, as I do with 'standing stones' by loreena mckennit, and occasionally 'the hand that feeds' and 'sunspots' (also Nine inch nails) because those 2 remind me of a guy I really liked, but he messed me about a lot
