Read the Great Shark Hunt and forget about the rest of your bullshit.

Instead of wasting my energy scrolling through the names NEIL GAIMAN NEIL GAIMAN STEPHEN KING POPPY Z BRITE EDDGAR ALLIN POE on the 'what are you currently reading' thread, I would like to be a pompous infant fucker and tell you all that this collection of essays I've acquired is sheer brilliance.

If your naturally slow, post generation X hormones have sought a possible 'WHY SHOULD I BUY IT?' let's just say that any book whether it be a collection or not that starts out with the ofortelling of Richard Nixon resigning directly in the aftermath of Watergate along with the downfall of the rest of America up til the current fucked up day...well what more needs to be said?

Yes, by the man and myth himself.

So go fucking get it.

Dry? There are a lot of criticisms I could see naysayers levelling at HST. Some I'd even accept, even though I'm personally inclined to consider him a gentleman & a scholar. But dry?

I read that right after Fear & Loathing. I still remember being surprised that the dude who wrote the latter could be... y'know... reasonable and reasoned.

Needless to say, love HST... but I'm pretty sure I've rhapsodized about that shit before.

...and it's the same thing we all wanted to tell him but didn't out of fear he'd think we're "ONE OF THEM."

So instead we laugh.
