MergingEntropy, addicted to coffee
Hello.
I am MergingEntropy. My real name is Stephanie. I stumbled upon this forum by happy accident & thought the topics of conversation seemed intriguing, so I decided to join to trudge deeper within these linguistic corridors.
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job) I am a photographer, poet, artist, dreamer, lover of good words & intelligent conversations. I love to read & spend time outdoors. I am currently working on job shadowing for a veterinary tech program since I lost my job in October.
2. Where are you from? Southern border of Iowa/Nebraska
3. Who is your favorite author? E.A. Poe, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurell K Hamilton when she's not going on about characteristics, Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman
4. What are your favorite films? Bram Stoker's Dracula, A Clockwork Orange, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Lord of the Rings, Brothers Quay short films, Mirror Mask, well made horror films, Secretary, Run Lola Run- Just to name a few
5. What music do you want played at your wedding? Nightwish, maybe some Cocteau Twins or Tori Amos, Qntal
6. At your funeral? Nightwish, Phanatos, A Perfect Circle
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? Doing something exhilarating & pleasurable, such as sky-diving or para-sailing. Somehow dying in a sword fight seems acceptable as well.
8. What kind of casket would you want? No casket. I want to be cremated.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? Any of my dresses with tall boots & lots of jewelry
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? the sense of unconstrained freedom & the strong sense of security
11. What's your favorite band? Nightwish, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Cocteau Twins & way too many others to name at the moment
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? I have an AA Degree and am currently working on becoming a vet tech after I finish my shadowing hours & acceptance letter *crosses fingers*
13. Why did you join? I inadvertently stumbled upon the site & enjoyed what it had to offer. It intrigued my curiosities.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? Female

Welcome fair maiden, it pleases an old man to read of your interest in our hallowed "linguistic corridors". Please don't mind the dusty and deep purple velvet drapes as no one has bothered to clean the cobwebs about the place, but don't be fooled by appearances: there is hot, young and virulent blood coursing through our veins here as you shall soon see, if not already.
Though there is old history and old men (and old women too but call them old at your life's peril!), we enjoy new music, new politics and photos, and especially each other. I hope you come to find us endearing if not entertaining and stay a long, long time.

HumanePain- I don't mind the dusty, deep purple drapes. I think they're quite gorgeous!
Looking forward to experiencing more about what is offered here.

I fancied photography, once. Did you take pictures for a living, or is it a hobby?
Also; Hi.

Hi Versus ^.^
I take pictures mainly as a hobby, although I profit from it at times doing portraits. I have lofty dreams of having a studio one of these days, but for now nature makes quite the back-drop & provides excellent lighting when the time is right.
So, we shall see what the winds bring :}

Here are a few photos I've done. Some of these are oldies but goodies. Not all of my stuff is posted on that site yet, however. Feel free to take a peek at what's been started.

Was that first album Africa inspired? Zoo inspired?
Really cool though.

Jethro- the first set is not Africa or Zoo inspired, but I can see how you would think that. I thought a "predatory" scenario would be interesting.
Hello, plur ^.^ You're not alone in this new experience, either ;}

Welcome, MergingEntropy!
I'm liking you a lot already, I share many of your loves: coffee, photography, Tori Amos, some of your films, and I'm also going to be a Vet Tech (Grad + Cert in 2012, I hope).
What is your AA in? Are you going to test for your CVT? How does the process work in your state? Is there a particular field you think you may specialize in?
I hope to see you around here more!

Hello, carakitty :}
That's excellent about all of our similarities. I have an Associates of Arts in Art. I am currently just job shadowing for the vet tech program as a pre-requisite. As a vet tech, I don't have to be certified or registered, but if I choose to be I will have to take the Vet Tech Examination. I would really like to work with small animals. I know I definitely don't want to deal with farm animals. I think it would be great to work in an animal shelter or at a zoo. It just depends what's available when I finish school

HP - I love your words.
Welcome aboard. You can call me old, I really am. My zimmerframe is at the workshop being refurbished.
I love coffee - really nice smooth coffee but it doesn't like me much. I go hyperactive.
What is an AA?

An AA is an Associates of Arts Degree from college

Good luck on your journey! I'm going to hazard a guess that shelter work will be easier to get into than zoo med. Usually in zoos the competition is stiff and once hired people don't want to leave their job. I can't blame them!
I also am interested in small animals. Cats, especially I'm getting interested in birds though so I'm not sure where I will end up interning. I am in a program currently working on my AA degree in Veterinary Technology, which includes an internship requirement to graduate. Then I will take the Vet Tech Exam, and further down the road probably go for a specialty as well.
Volunteering at a shelter got me into this career path and I'm currently volunteering at a shelter again. Who knows, I may end up interning there and getting hired on. I love seeing what a difference can be made in that place!
Funny, I was majoring in Art (Photography) before I got into Vet Teching too!

Thanks.
It's alcohol that puts me to sleep, so it's always interesting experiement when I drink Canadan Club and cola to see if I go hyper or go to sleep.
