Unfortunately, many of those statistics are sadly true. This doesn't mean that all homos are like that though. The church just loves to use shit like this as propaganda to demonize all of us into "filthy perverts" and scare those who are too afraid to come out, into staying in the closet and living a hetero lie.
There are many who don't want to live the sex/drugs lifestyle but feel isolated because they can't find any other group with more morals than that to associate themselves with. Their alternative is pretty much, live a lie or join the crowd and become a statistic. There pretty much aren't any real avenues for the "gay moralist" - for lack of a better term, who just wants to find someone with similar values and live a decent life without being labeled by his sexual orientation.

That's not the whole Catholic church though, most certainly it is not. My family has long gone to this one parish, a parish that my mother's family has gone to for decades, a parish that my own grandparents strongly supported(they even have their names permanently on a plaque), a parish where my own parents got married. At this moment in time they have an openly gay priest serving there, yet my family's loyalty to the parish has not wavered, to the extend that, said gay priest, was the one who helped us, and served us, in the event of my grandfather's death and funeral last year.
So don't try corralling the whole Catholic church into this, because just like there are idiots out there who say 9/11 was staged, there are idiots who say plenty of other idiotic things that they claim to do for the sake of plenty of other causes.

Well, I'm going off when I was growing up, which made the Catholic church we went to all-encompassing and the only one. Small town logic, I guess.

sorry, i have to recant and say that some... SOME of those stats are, eh, somewhat accurate, (promiscuity and drugs are extremely rampant, and hiv is still extremely high), but most are a bunch of bullshit. I didn't even read all of them til i went back. didn't even notice the pedophile thing. what the fuck ever.
considering none of those articles referenced are less than 20 years old.
the suicide rate is pretty accurate. its been dropping in recent years tho
100 times more likely to die in car accidents? really? I guess cause we're all driving around with glitter in our eyes
and there's no such thing as "gay bowel syndrome" LOL
they're using kinsey for fucks sake. most of that quack's "research" was debunked years ago but for some reason its still referred to like its some kind of bible. by other quacks.

A lot of these claims are ridiculous.
This is blatant discrimination by the catholic church. An obvious ploy to push their 'divine' agenda so their bigotry can be justified. Apparently, heterosexuals are exempt from all scrutiny despite being equally guilty of such claims.
If it wasn't obvious, a lot of their references were:
-outdated by over a decade
-are potentially biased (most carried out by heterosexuals)
-difficult to track down, so their credibility is questionable
-vague
Bigotry is still bigotry no matter who it is endorsed by.
