Well, this is naturally what you get with the confused nature of humanity. People try to slap a label on something, and when they hate it, demonize it and try to destroy it.

I remember this one. I'm fairly sure the 'Satanic Foodstuffs' one is a load of bollix, but the others are genuine paranoia.
I've got all but five symptoms of goth/ satanist/ sexual deviant/ non-Christian/ blaspheming heretic-
-Suicidal/Depressed (just no. Sometimes stressed or panicked, that's all)
-Takes Drugs (none aside from alcohol. Someone has
to look after the flock, after all)
-Self-Mutilates (ouch, no. That would be painful)
-Drinks Blood (only by accident)
- Wears Pins declaring Gothnicity (don't need to, I'm obvious enough without 'em)

I'm also exempt from the 'ignores authority figures', because I will defer to the Eldergoths of a local scene, and I pay attention to my university lecturers. So nyeh

Yeah, even a few dead people I can think of can score at least 5...

Applied to Jesus:

-Associates with other people that dress, act or speak eccentrically.

-Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
(well, he did have a chat with Satan, not many goths get that much interaction)

-Drinks alcohol.

-Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation.
(starved himself)

-Spends large amounts of time alone.
(40 days in the desert)

-Requests time alone and quietness.

-Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this.

They don't really fear the Goth culture, they just fear anything that threatens status quo. It's nice to not have to worry about your establishment falling to the floor; because some smart aleck strolls along and points out blatant hypocrisy, ex. Martin Luther.

::rolls eyes:::
This just made me laugh my ass off. Thanks!
Yeah most of that applies to ALL teens.
And what's up with the Count Chocula stuff? Sure, that turns kids into vampires as much as Lucky Charms makes kids worship Leprechauns.

And Boo Berry makes kids die and forces their spirits to remain behind to haunt their homes...

Don't forget that Honey Nut Cheerios makes kids turn into flamboyant bumble bees.

Aside from the facts that most people have pointed out (that those things are so vauge and far encompasing that nearly every person besides those in a vegitative state fit into), and pushing old stereotypes about suposive 'goths' (I want a new one, such as they are actually pod people here to replace your produce with high calorie fast food), the message seems to target people who are intrinsically introverted people. Something many societies seem to do as they are not as socially active, and therefore must have something wrong with them (almost as if it were a mental ailment).

I find this interesting in that introverted people, statistically at least, have been shown to have a higher average intelligence then extroverted people. Obviously this is not a rule, as there are many extroverted people with extrodinary intelects, and introverted people who should probably be watered daily. The reason this is interesting is that those with a higher intelligence are more likely to go with a scienctific view of the world then those with a lower average intelligence. Once again, this is not always the case.

So is this a case of religouse zealots attempting to convince parents that their introverted children must change their way of thinking because they are seen as a threat to their state of power. Or is it connected to the social stigma that is attached to introverted persons, or a combination of the two. Or is it the third possibility, the one where I have far too much time to think and even more time to bore others with those very thoughts.

Here's the exact link: http://redmusic.com/goths/warning.html

When I first read this I thought it was some kind of joke. I'm still curious as to whether or not the person who made this is serious or not.

Well, given the source site, and the fact that the "organization" that made up the list is called (by acronym) P.A.R.O.D.Y., I'd say it's a joke. Just like the alaska.net Flat Earth Society. ("Deprogramming the masses since 1547.")

It's a joke site, it's been around for ages. But it'd be interesting if it'd been real, I agree on that one. Some people are like that, though. How they managed to wave goodbye to their common sense like that is still a mystery to me.

I count 32 of those things on that list that I am. *laughs* I guess the church is going to have to fix me now. Ha ha. It's so rejected. I can't stand people who are so narrow minded.

That makes me angry. I would love to run into someone who actually believes this. I would love to rip out their throat.

Why does it make you angry? It's ludicrous, ridiculous, laughable. You may want to save your anger for things that are actually offensive... I can't think of this as offensive because I can't believe there are many people who are swayed by this "argument". I can't think of it as offensive because deep down I'm semi-convinced that it HAS to be a parody of sorts.

I guess it's a joke. It's actually quite funny, even if it isn't a joke. If its real, whoever wrote it is an insult to christians. If any are this gullible (most christians I met are pretty smart), they must be very few in number, so im not worried, just amused.

But yea, its old anyway.

You can't get angry every time someone's ignorant or you won't ever be anything except for angry.

No I find a time to let it go but I usually channel that anger into talking to them about how stupid what they just did or said is.
