Let's Talk About Morrissey.

Morrissey...fucking rules.
And I love him.

I've said before, in all seriousness, that I want to be the girl Morrissey writes a happy love song about.

So Morrissey, if you're scanning various goth websites praying to see your name, here it is, and give me a call.

I never had much love for Morrissey. But "How Soon is Now' is a great song.

"His version?"

You mean, the REAL version?

Did he do a solo version? I was actually referring to THE SMITHS.

I think that's what she meant, the Smiths.

I really love his music. I've even got a few of his LP's. Odd, but beautiful.

He's been growing on me. I used to think he was terrible, just being some sort of lonely old bastard by choice who complained about it. Lately though, his circumstances seem to matter less and less and his poetry matters more and more.

Nothing against him but every time I think of him, I always end up thinking about the episode of Beavis and Butthead where November Spawned a Monster is so offensive to whatever passes for their sensibilities that Beavis sprays out soda on Butthead upon seeing the first 5 seconds.

I just wish he didn't ignore certain areas when he's touring. (A part of Canada populated by indigenous natives engages in seal hunting and he passes it by because he doesn't like the practice)

But I still have a soft spot for The Smiths except for the songs that have been and are being run into the ground by everyone and their Aunt Gertrude.

I'm really just now getting into The Smiths. I've liked what I've heard and all. But I doubt they'd become a favorite of mine.

Edit: OMG, How Soon Is Now? I didn't know that song was THAT song. Holy shit, that song is annoying. I think it's because it's been used for just about every kind of witch based TV and movie production. There are some songs so good, they're bound to suck.

Ugh, I know. What pisses me off is that people think the song is related to the elements in some way.

GUESS WHAT ASSHOLES, THE LYRIC IS "SON AND HEIR," NOT "SUN AND AIR."

I know, right?

The song has NOTHING to do with witchcraft.

....and why do they use a cover version of the song for THE CRAFT and CHARMED. It sounds so much like the original, anyway. Too expensive to use THE SMITHS?

Morrissey is generally too whinny for my tastes. "Girlfriend in a coma, I know, I know, it's serious...." But the lyrics are funny.

So, the Killers covered "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself?" and it is tasty. It doesn't have the bite that Morrissey has, but it's nice.

Ringleader of the Tormentors is new, but actually quite awesome.
Morrissey is the only man who can compose a song entitled "Dear God Please Help Me" and still radiate the impression that he possesses a huge penis.

Morrissey has a vagina I am almost certain. On his own I think he is terrible and whiney, but I like The Smiths ok.

He is whiny, but that's why I love him. His lyrics are almost nonsensically self-indulgent, but very well written and clever, I think.

Morrissey is my God. He really is... I prefer his solo career, even though The Smiths also rule. It's great to know goths support his work.
