R a p e child molesters and death
So I am having so much fun in my C.J class this year for the last 4 weeks we have been studying about. Child sexual abuse , types of child molesters , child physical abuse, SIDS death , R a p e , the diffident types of rapist and now death.
We get to see real pictures of child physical abuse . Real pictures of dead and abused baby's and now real pictures of the human body in various stages of decay.
I love my class. O and I get to learn about all of this and see all of the pictures and eat my lunch at the same time.

No, you just want to believe being purposefully tasteless compensates your lack of personality.

I'm not being purposefully tasteless. I do find the subject matter to be very interesting but you are right about one thing. I do not have the same emotional behavioral response as my fellow peers. Why is this I do not know. If you have an answer please by all means please enlighten me.

What angle is it that you're studying so that your lecturers are showing you material like this?
I'm asking because I'm at Uni doing a double in criminal science and psychology, specialising in the abnormal psychology of those who perpetrate crimes against children.. and and none of our lecturers would ever show this sort of material in class.. not only would it contravene any sense of a duty of care that they might have for students, be extremely triggering (who knows that someone sitting in that very class hasn't suffered the same sorts of abuse), and just be in general bad taste.. but it isn't going to teach you anything. And it shows no compassion or respect for the victims of those crimes.
Honestly, there are just some images that humans weren't meant to hold in their minds.
The very fact that you would post this thread to get a rise from people here proves that you should not be working in that area.
I hope that you never come face to face with a victim of that sort of abuse.. for their sake. Because you, sir, are a grade A arse-hat.

I am taking a Crim Investigation course and it is a required core course for law enforcement and corrections . The course is designed to introduce students to a job-related understanding of criminal Investigation techniques that law enforcement officers utilize and the numerous issues that officers face when investigating various crimes.

Especially when it seems that it just amuses you to see the evidence of this sort of behaviour.
I mean, you do realise that the people in the pictures (that you claim to see) are ACTUAL people, don't you?

I can not justify the subject material. I did not create the course nor do I teach it .Yes I am well aware of the fact that they were ACTUAL people at one point in time.

They still ARE actual people.
And if you are so aware of that fact, then how is it that you can make light of it?

Whatever, I cannot even stomach pictures of non techno color images of autopsies. It is all gross, brown and ugly, yet there are doctors everywhere. They can stomach all that crap so they can save lives.
I think it is fine that Daywalker is able to handle looking at that because I would overreact, throw up or become vengeful. Even the other day there was some weird noises in the bathroom and I was about to throw a fit. I know my behavior doesn't actually take care of problems though so it is nice when there is someone who is able to have the amount of logical distance to not make everything worse than it already is.

I agree with you, Catch... I'm studying the same subjects... and I would add that there is a VAST difference between being able to distance oneself to be able to look at things clinically, and trivialising the entire things by talking about how fun the class is and eating lunch while looking at photos.

I disagree. Being able to eat lunch while looking at photos means being able to look clearly at the information without assumption, anger and other issues that almost create criminal if they were exposed to the same information.

Mentally creating objective distance to get a job done is one thing, reveling in telling the internet about it is totally different.
Hey Daywalker, the difference between your emotional response and others is a thing called "empathy". They have it and you apparently do not. Try developing some, then you might get to see living naked people once in a while.

I don't think he doesn't have empathy, but rather that he wants to pretend having no empathy is cool and tough because only on the internet would anyone confuse him with anything but a skinny ass pasty kid.
Kind of like how nerds into death metal delude themselves into thinking anyone would actually interpret their make-up as war paint that makes them dangerous.

Could be. Some forms of insensitivity can be funny, for example I find Red Letter Media usually to be pretty great. Or "A Softer World". This kind of thing here though seems to be of the "look how hard I am" variety which is just sad.
I think you had him pegged pretty well in your first response.

The problem is that this particular brand of insensitive posturing trivialises the most heinous activities perpetrated against the extremely vulnerable... and there aren't words for how fucked that is.

It works like this, people are best qualified to do certain things. If I was constantly exposed to crime, pain and injustices of life I would probably get personally involved and plant evidence out of a sense of justice. That's wrong. I would use the Police Station as my personal political podium. That's wrong. I would get through collecting evidence knowing it is important to actually catching the right person because maybe it was the neighbor not the dad, but it would be completely grating on my soul.
I feel guilty about emotions I have never even had yet but might in the future if some weird things that are purely hypothetical after watching a movie.
It is great when people are matched to the right job. For whatever reason some people see these things and only see them like seeing a flower or a mislaid book. They know the book is mislaid, yet it does not interfere with all their other senses and that is wonderful, because I would much rather have a Law enforcement Official carefully place evidence in the baggies and let the courts decide make decisions so actual criminals are placed in jail rather than pay more in taxes for someone's paranoid freak show because they suffered some schism as a child. (btw, I was not molested as a child and only date ***** by someone about the same age as a teen.)
I would also mention that I already kind of campaign to have sex crimes qualify as murder charges if someone dies, so I am in no way qualified to be a Cop.

You are reading into what he said way too much. Daywalker found out that he is good at something. He didn't say he wanted to do anything like that. He is just happy about finding out he might be capable of doing a job others are not suited for.
In fact, Miss Absynthe I hope you know what you'll be doing with your degree. The wild assumptions and condemnation of Daywalker is really political and judgmental. I mean actors acting all driven by whatever is great television, yet it is well... have you thought about politics or public speaking?
