This military has a policy known as don't ask don't tell, if they find anyone in the military is gay they are immediately dishonorably discharged.

I wasn't aware that there was such a rule. It's blatant discrimination, I think.

I'm all for porn and shit, but so long as it isn't peddled or abused openly. The military's still based on some oldschool traditions that won't go away for a very long time. Image is everything, you know, and porn is something that is perceived as having negative connotations by a lot of people still today.

Speaking of gay porn. Gay porn is cool, so long as it's two hot women with huge watermelons having a go at it in a tub of chocolate syrup.

Well it took long enough as it did to even get to that rule, before the rule they asked if you were gay you had to be honest and if you were you were out. Here at least gay people have a slight opportunity to join the army as long as they don't talk about it. From what I heard from my recruiter it takes even less than that to get booted from the army, I had to lie on my medical report about for example my brother having adhd, and myself having any sort of mental health issues because even my brother having adhd is enough to get me disqualified for entry into the army. So if you're gay or have mental issues in your family lie lie lie and they'll never ask and never look into it, or you'll never get in.

I think this debate exemplifies North America's mixed up priorities. These are men and/or women who have been trained to kill on command. They are people all over the world dying for a chance to kill them just because they are who they are. The powers that be are worried about whether or not they see a few dirty pictures??

I would say it exemplifies a more darker, sinister issue here. It's not that the powers that be don't want them looking at dirty pictures as much as it is what effect said pictures will have on the aforementioned men and/or women.

If you train a dog to be a pit fighter, then take it on a stroll in the park, don't be surprised if you run into some obvious issues.

Same goes for soldiers. If you break down people, make them into tools, convince them to kill for no other reason than your own will and command, then you must take into account they are now susceptible to other issues that might not arise in normal society.

Teach them power, might, and death rule the world, then find out they beat their girlfriend/wife/significant other or that during a row at a bar kill a person - this is to be expected.

Banning them from viewing material that might subjectify women, in their minds, is protecting them from committing atrocities, like where the 12 year old girl was ***** and her and her family burned alive by US troops out for kicks.

The average joe soap isn't going to be involved in such heinous crimes, but a person who has been broken down and essentially brainwashed in efforts to get them to bypass their normal behavioral mechanisms that keep normal people from killing others, well, you never know how that will play out.

This is further proven by the fact since the war started the suicide rate for soldiers has gone through the roof.

As the military itself says 'epidemic suiicide rates'. Why? Same basic principal - once you change a person in such a way that death, murder, etc. is no longer something they have qualms with, they are more likely to engage in activities that average people would not contemplate.

Throw in pr0n, violent films, drugs/alcohol, and the truth about what they are fighting for - you end up with a dangerous concoction - many little time-bombs running throughout society, just waiting for the right combination of factors to set them off.

So it's more than just looking at dirty pictures.

I really don't think that kind of behavior is so common as to ban pornography.
Plus--think of it this way. They need to get off. Would you prefer they **** each other? It goes on enough WITH the porn.
