Shill Post your website announcements here. Anything that is blatantly SPAM (nigerian schemes, make money fast, etc) will be deleted. Actually, we'd probably keep the nigerian schemes around to make fun of it. |

Emo is just another way of expressing feelings through music and fashion, just like any 'other' subcluture.

Agreed. Besides, i'd much rather hang out with a flock of emo wusses than be surrounded by a pack of pimpalicious hip-hoppers that follow Fitty Cent's attitude to the dot. Not that i'm saying ALL hip-hoppers are dumb bastards, lol.

I don't call emotional people emo...
Emo in a word says this to me - young kids who dye their hair in bright colours or simply keep a large chunk in front of their face. They usually have a few piercings, use a lot of eyeshadow regardless of gender, glare at people or harass me for cigarettes. The ones here usually hang out at a big silver cushion in the middle of garema. I don't know where they get the money to buy their clothes from as most of them always seem to be around. Always hanging out.

Emo to me means a pretty much dead subculture that formed in the 80s with emotive-hardcore punk music and angsty teen bastards recycling the name to label their abnormal behaviour today. Its a style consisting of checker and diamond pattern "nerdy" clothing and oily hair cut to lok scruffy, often with long bangs and brushed accross the face. The emo of today is a stupid teen trend and is nowhere near as good as the "emo" people from the 80s and 90s and is just an exaggeration of the emotional factor of the style.

Emo means nothing to me.
It's just a term for typical high school kids [or older people who are "stuck" in high school mode] to describe someone who is a little different because of the way they dress and because they may have emotional problems. Everyone is their own individual and if that means that someone dresses and acts like a so-called "emo" then so be it but it does not give anyone the right to judge that person and label them. I stopped that when I was in High School.

When I think of 'emo', I think of my nephew, though the only 'emo' thing about him is his hairstyle.
He's so cute, though! XD

If I hear the word emo I think of the stereotype, cuts wrists, listens to depressing music etc. etc. Though, I never label someone as emo. Only people I strongly dislike

Emo...
I hear "emo" and I just think of the clothing and hair styles.
I think it looks fine. Much better than the stale, boring, bright, mainstream Hollywood bullshit I see in the tabloids every time I wait in line at the grocery store.
None of the emo kids I've ever met were into cutting their wrists or were depressed to the point of making it annoyingly obvious. Most of them just played in bands, got shit-faced, complained about their parents being assholes, and drew awesome gore-filled art.
And I LOVE gory art. Thus, we became good friends.

For me, its different in the UK.
I hear "emo" and I think depressing, self harming, self hating, "my life sucks", slap on the eyeliner secondary (High) school kids. It may seem harsh, but 99% of true emos that I know are exactly as I describe.

"Emo" to me means teens who want to be 'alternative' but not -too- alternative; on some level, they still want to be considered 'normal'.
