I refuse to bitch about this post being in General and I'm just moving it now.

My favorite band is The Cure. A close second would have to be Siouxsie and the Banshees or The Damned. The best band ever would have to be The Beatles, though. They are pretty much the roots of modern pop music. Although from that era, I like the Velvet Underground more.

Wow. First, I do not think it is too much to ask to type out the word "are". Second, this is my opinion, but your favorite bands are absolutely horrible in every way, and are not gothic. Not that it is a problem that they are not gothic, but when you proclaim yourself to be gothic, it just might help to like a few gothic bands. You put the adjective "fucking" in the wrong place, it should be in between "many" and "more". As it is now, it is taking the verb position, and you already have a verb, although spelled wrong. And what, may I ask, is "gothing out"?

You would definitely think "Goth Music" would have been an option in such a pole...especially considering the website its featured on. WHAT A WANKER! could have at least put darkwave or SOMETHING in there, but NO. Had to be a putz.

This one is almost too easy, but too hard. The best band of all time is like the most impossible question of all. I mean, it's a matter of opinion. That's like asking some random person what the ABSOLUTE BEST flavor of ice cream is, or what is the ultimate religion. Every person will have a different answer. If we are going on individual performers then it would be Jimmi Hendrix, but if it's on bands, probably nothing I listen to, but here's a guess: Led Zepplin maybe or Van Halen. As for what i listen to, I like music mainly in the gothic rock genre of the female persuasion or nu metal, death metal and punk. My favorites are Lacuna Coil, Tapping the Vein, Kidneythieves, The Crest, KoRn, Disturbed, Adema, Noise Therapy, Tantric and Live On Release. today and throughout the 80's has been influenced by them

Evanescence, Collide, and the Cure are my favorites.

I saw someone get bitched at because someone didn't think that what they said were their favorites wasn't gothic music. A few of my choices are the same, so I would like to say to the bitcher: if I wanted your opinion, I would fucking tell you to give it to me. Until then, assume that I don't give a damn what you think, gothic or not.

And yes, I realize that someone, if not him than someone else, is going to bitch at me for this. Read the last lines of the above paragraph; they apply to more than just music.

I read through this whole thread and had a hard time not laughing my ass off. First DUH! award: No goth category on the favorite music styles poll. Second DUH!! award: nu-metal bands!!! (lets not forget the mention of Brian Warner's little music thing) Third DUH!!! award: Korn invented industrial?!!!! Now THAT is such a silly statement that I'm almost inclined to tell people about it!!
Well, lets face it - you have a site called "Gothic.net" - it's going to attract under-educated angstful misguided misinfomed trollips....that are a little too impressed with nu-metal.....and watch MTV....and probably think Christina Agorilla looks gothy.
But anyway...
I'll go out on a limb and say Dead Can Dance is pretty spiffy. Kind of a tough question to answer - I mean , best band EVER?? That's a little toooo unanswerable obviously. But they were pretty damn good at what they did. The Cure? of course! I like em.
Anyway - let the silliness continue!!!

Second favorite would probably be Soft Cell.
