I had never really heard anything by him/them. I don't listen to trendy music, NOR do I listen to trendy opinions. It is just as trendy for kids to listen to H.I.M. as it is for "goths" to be pissed about the bands fame.

I'm not really that interested in Depeche Mode, so I can't really have a proper take on it. To me it sounds like any other over-produced crap that sounds under-produced at the same time. Now, if they'd covered Boneshaker baby...

Ah man, DM do not translate well into whatever H.I.M do, "love metal" or some crap. It's like Graveworm covering Losing my Religion...which they did.
I think when bands cover songs that they should really think about how that song will sound in their style because sometimes, you just aren't going to capture the real essence of a song when you take it in the opposite direction. This is why I end up being reluctant to cover anything.
