I was somewhat more disagreeing with wormboy, in that he stated "normal" names... True the common names tend to mix in with peoples definition "normal".. Everyone has their own opinion of it, therefore we cannot state what normal really is, yes?

Normal? I agree with you as to the subjectivity that the word provokes. But we *can* state what is more or less common in terms of absolute, if not what is more or less "socially acceptable"; and so, the more common names are accepted as "normal".

Mmmm... for the Apple thing, I think it could be OK if one named their kid Apollonia or something, and then nick-named them Apple.

I would never name anyone Victoria. It's a nice enough name and all, but half the commonwealth is named Victoria.

Well my friend's sister is pregnant again and she wants to name this one Chlymidia (because it sounds pretty), this is the same woman who wanted to name her first daughter Lesbianca (thankfully her family convinced her that this was a bad idea). Some people should not be allowed to reproduce

I think that just might top the people who named their kids after where they were conceived (as in Bedroom, Bathroom, Garage)

My first name is Mirabel, and that's quite uncommon over here. It really sucks because some people call me Maribel. I'd like it changed to Alyss really, I'm such a big fan of the name. Problem is, people would change the spelling to Alice. Now if I had a choice, I'd be named Dante (I wouldn't care even if people mistake me for a guy).

Is it even legal to call a child that, because I'm pretty sure you can't call a child expletives. So surely you can't use that?

My ex-girlfriend knew a girl whose name, pronounced sha-theed, was actually spelled 'Shithead'.
Someone, though I forget precisely who, once told me of encountering a Vagina- pronounced Vaheena- as well.
Anyway, should some dramatic shift in my world view, or horrible accident, descend upon me such that I find myself father to a child, he's of course inheriting my name. If I end up with a girl, I'll just add an A to the end.

I think I wouldn't change my birthname. It's Alena. (It's neither pronounced "Alayna", nor "Aleena", but the way you would pronounce it in Spanish.) I think it's kinda cool.

You know, you can't call your kid "Apfel" (=apple) or something like that here. I guess we have strict laws concerning that kind of thing. What I really don't like is the combination of a typical German last name like... Maier of Müller and fancy English / Italian names. I mean... "Hey, my name is Lucy Müller..." o.O Sounds just downright ridiculous. Or... Francesca Schmidt. >.<" Gha!

I like my real name--Deana, but I hate the way it's spelled. I would change the spelling to Dina, so people could actually pronounce it correctly.
