I was just joking dude! Plagued by low self esteem and wanting to become what I thought others needed me to be, I quite stupidly joined the marines long ago. Boot camp eventually regurgitated me, partially gnawed, back out into the world, where I eventually realized that maybe I was more cut out for cerebral and artistic pursuits than some brain-washed macho delusion.

I did march against Bush's current insanity, mainly because I have a son who I love very much.

Jill, I am one to assume that he's from Thailand, and their written dialect is fucking bizzare. Like 42 vowels to 16 consonants. Nowhere near English, so he probably has a wee way to go.

Conscription just sucks arse. One of my friend's in New Zealand has to stay here now and when his visa runs out he has to go back and join the Korean Military.

In singapore if you don't join, I think it's about 3-5 years imprisonment, last time I checked...

And I Greece I believe they can force you to stay in prison til you're 30 if you refuse to join the military conscription, but I learnt that through hearsay so I'm not too sure about that.

What I said about the Greek conscription is bullshit, but failure to join the Singaporean military means you get a 3 year imprisonment and $10 000 fine.

It's quite normal for the smaller countries to do things like that, they need a good standing army to help maintain internal security, and with the smaller populations you can't expect enough voulenteers to meet the size needed to perform those duties. Also most countries don't start wars as much as the United States does.
