Odd Find

You came to me
Through the middle of my life
Between my mother
And that gay goth hairdresser
Named Steve
How do you know them both?
When I have never known you
When my mother never knew Steve

I like it. I enjoy the reference to this watching person over the course of life, and also how a (seemingly ) long timeline is brought together, with different points in life that weren't connected becoming connected. Also, because of how the question is set up, a reader isn't quite sure whether the watchful person would be waiting protectively or ominously. Perhaps indifferently?

I like the illusive creation of a back story, and that it makes me wonder about the rest ot it.

Also, the change in perspectives is neat, in the beginning lines you are looking back, at the middle, at something you didn't know was there at the time.

It creates an expectant air, too, because why has this entity only now revealed itself?

I agree with the hanging expectation reviews, I keep wanting to add

"...that I know of."

to the end.
