How to scare a pop artist: Overdoing the Cyber look at a concert...

I laughed at loud at seeing this... I have no idea who or what he was doing, but I found it funny. =P

Man in gas mask stops Annie Lennox concert

BOULDER, Colo. - Popular singer Annie Lennox fled the stage when a man wearing a gas mask and cape appeared in the crowd towards the end of her set at Macky Auditorium on Tuesday.

Lennox spotted the man approaching the stage, tossed her microphone to the ground, and ducked backstage without saying a word to the audience. She describes the incident as “really freakish and disturbing” on her blog.

“A fellow who was dressed in a black cape, platform boots and a gas mask approached the stage,” Arai told Boulder’s Daily Camera. “Lennox saw him coming and threw down her microphone and went backstage.”

~~

The incident was traumatic enough to send the singer straight to her tour bus avoiding the fans waiting meet her. On her blog, Lennox apologized about having to duck out, “I send my apologies to anyone who waited. What a drag. If you ask anyone who’s waited for me after any of my shows, they’ll tell you that I usually spend quite some time signing etc... But you know what...Hey... I’m a human being folks... (sic) and I just needed to get out of there because I’d had it. I’m really sorry if you waited for me... normally it would have been completely different.”

Lennox went on to criticize the security at Macky Auditorium, “The security at the hall were extremely lax, and Mr ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ (or whatever weird thing was going on in his head) should never have been allowed to get anywhere near.”

Annie Lennox isn't exactly someone I'd go see in a gas mask, however, I'd find it pretty stupid if the guy does end up getting charged with something.

I can understand why she'd be scared, but just leaving a concert seems a little inappropriate.

haha. the second bolded part makes me laugh.

It's stupid when people go somewhere knowing that they're going to scare somebody, and that's one of those places.

I'm not sure what he was getting at combining a cape with a gas mask in the first place, regardless of what concert he was going to...

I don't think he can be charged with anything, it was in the US correct and there is no law against clothing as long as its covering certain parts and even thats gotten lax. but about the gas mask, i have only one question... WHY?

This goes for D.Nox as well. It probably had something to do with Dream of the Endless in the Sandman series. Even he had a gasmask.

LoL!! I can't help but laugh my ass off. She thinks she deserves an apology. LoL!!! That's funny as hell.

I just got done readin her blog. People commented it saying that they were sorry that she had to experience that and it sounded shocking. Wasn't she apart of the Eurythmics? I'm sure alot of people dressed in the nature that young man was like that band.

But to think, she is owed a apology? Pfft. "I'm sorry that I like to dress this way and it scared you so much that you ignored your fans and walked off the stage. " For all she knew, he was a fan of hers wanting to get a good look at her.

People like that annoy me. -_-

Full scale assault of scary gas mask wearing people at next Annie concert! xD

(All jokes aside, she actually makes decent music. She did over react to him, though)

gas masks are awesome looking, but I can't say they're very comfortable. At least not the few types I've worn. (I used to own a couple, but the ex kept them when I left).

In a cultural demographic where people do not associate gas masks with fashion, they associate them with....well, gas, as in the mustard or nerve type. As in deadly or at the least extremely uncomfortable poison floating through the air. It makes many people think of war, cries of the dying, and death, and not from an artistically aesthetic point of view. For them it is scary ( for them that is a bad thing) , not a fashion statement.

For them, the line of thought runs thus; "Why is that guy wearing a gas mask? A GAS MASK!!! OH SHIT"! not "Hey, that guys' mask is AWESOME! I wonder where he got that model?"

Still, it would have been very entertaining to see or even inspire such a reaction, knowing, of course, that there existed no danger.

I could understand if she was scared he was a terrorist and had just let out some gas [don't laugh], but to me she sounds more like they teenage girls who scream, run, and laugh [in order] from anyone wearing black clothes.

This thread was dead for over a year and a half!

Why have you gone out of your way to find old threads that died a peaceful death a long time ago to resurrect when there are plenty of interesting current threads to talk about? Reviving old threads knocks newer, more relevant threads off the front page.

Stop doing this. Dead thread necromancy is frowned on here.
