"Adults are just obsolete children."

I think most of the adults on this board are in their twenties, didn't we do an age poll a year ago or so?

Growing old is unavoidable, growing up isn't. You become old the minute you cease willing to be silly to have fun.

@ Versus: I'm 19, you're practically ancient to me As well as man, armoured vehicles are indeed fun a hell. Way back when I was in Cadets I can remember being taken for a "demo" in a lav III. The demo being donuts at 60km, then the most hectic off-road ride I've ever been on. I was chilling in the open hatch, got a horrifically bruised upper body from the armour, and almost got decapitated by an arm-thick tree. I wish I could do that again....

The tank bit made me laugh. It reminded me of something I thought I'd share:

So the M2 Bradley is far from a tank, but it does have the fastest traversing turret in the world. When I was in Iraq, we were fucking off this one day and decided to have a Bradley Turret Rodeo. Hilarity ensued.
That thing is far from a tank? I'm calling deprivation here. I'm 22 and the closest I've been to anything that qualifies for a cool name like The Beast is riding in my cousin's SUV.

You poor bastard. Armor plate it, cover it in steel spikes, and go off jumps.

The truth is that I mostly play with my dick all day. Some stuff is really cool, though.

19 was a really awkward age for me. I hope it's better for you~

Also, the Canadian LAV III could kick the shit out of our Stryker. I'm a little jealous.

Have you ever ridden in a tracked vehicle?

Believe it or not, yeah. The Bradley is fucking mean to everything below main battle tanks, but it really doesn't hold a candle to them.

This reminded me of a comedian I saw on TV a bit ago. He was talking about how people would complain about sitting on the runway inside an airplane for 45 minutes.

"Seriously?! You're complaining about manned-flight?! You're sitting on a seat in the sky! You are living Greek heroic epics right now! You're complaining about taking 6 hours to get from New York City to California?! That shit used to take like, 30 years! People would die on the way there!!"

Ah this boy habit of willy waving/playing starts at an early age - or so I've recently discovered.

@twitch - nods head in agreement.

So what's so different about riding in track vehicles?

I don't recall seeing one.
Do you want to make a new one or should I?

I guess if there is an old one it might be worth it to bump it up, but then if people started voting their age again it would be all statistically screwed. Or perhaps they could just reply with their current age or date of birth (with year) on the thread.

My birthday's coming up pretty soon. Double-digit time again!

I'd say make a new. And post a cavalry years to people years conversion table, please.

Things certainly make more sense with age, and it surprised the crap out of me. I mean, I used to be ALL up in conspiracy theories, secret societies, mysticism and so on and it used to really stress me out. These days... I think such ideas give certain people too much credit.

As for goth, I used to ask people what it meant, TELL people, write and research about it, but after a while it became meaningless. What was the point in trying to define something so... subjective? I did, however, get deep into goth rock as a result, which was a really positive and fascinating subject for research.

I recently just ended that phase myself Draconysius. The whole researching as not to come off as a poseur thing, but came to the realization that it really doesn't matter. However, as to the age comes wisdom thing, i've found the exact reverse, it seems now that now i am no longer a teenager my mind is more susceptible to delirium and stress.

So did I. On the plus side I just had an awesome sandwich. Cheese, ham, chicken, peanut butter and salad. Delicious.

You only need a tiny bit of peanut butter, it has to be smooth not crunchy though.

Here I was all nice and satisfied with my lunch (spinach salad with onions, gorgonzola, and topped with nice juicy slices of steak) but now I want one of those.
