Yeah--crazy title, eh? That's why I clicked on the link that took me to this story:

I'm feeling a little philosophical, so...
My first thought was, "what pathetic person would want this thing?" Then I read the last line of the article that says, "David Levy argues that robots will become significant sexual partners for humans, answering needs that other people are unable or unwilling to satisfy."
That struck me as just plain wrong--not because I'm considering the perversity one could dream up, but because as all technologies advance, we separate from one another more and more. We sit in our homes tapping out messages to strangers, or we sit in cafes or on trains with many people ignoring their presence to rather Tweet or blog or debate issues or Second Life...we are becoming less and less human where we seek to fill voids with an artificial "life" and "real life" feels ...less real.
It disturbs me that we isolate and rather than be among the living, we often prefer to be alone amid the automated, electronic, and insular world of our self-indulgent fantasies. I think we do this because it serves the jealous god "ME" and we don't have to deal with anything that isn't solved by clicking to another site. Quick fix--gimme what I want, then go away and take nothing of me with you because you really don't exist in my world, only I do.
