YOUNG HANNIBAL ready to roll
Dark Horizons reports that producers Dino and Martha De Laurentiis (among several others) are preparing to shoot BEHIND THE MASK: YOUNG HANNIBAL beginning October 10 in Prague. As previously reported, Peter (THE GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING) Webber will direct from Thomas Harris� script based on the author�s BEHIND THE MASK novel, to be published by Bantam Dell this fall. Twenty-year-old French actor Gaspard (BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF) Ulliel has been picked to play the junior Lecter, who escapes from an orphanage and is taken in by Lady Murasaki (Chinese star Gong Li), whom he uses as part of a revenge plot. Also in the cast are Rhys (ENDURING LOVE) Ifans, Richard (BATMAN BEGINS) Brake and Kevin (DOG SOLDIERS) McKidd. The Weinstein Company has U.S. distribution rights and plans to open the film in summer 2006.
