The Rocky Horror Picture Show.... part 2...
Variety reports that MTV and Fox Television Studios are developing a remake of the 1975 cult sensation THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, co-producing with the BermanBraun company. Original executive producer Lou Adler is attached to the new movie, which will employ the original Jim Sharman/Richard O'Brien script (based on the latter's stage play) but may add new tunes to those penned by O'Brien. The original, an outrageously sexy camp variation on the Frankenstein story starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon and directed by Sharman, has been a midnight staple for over three decades since its initial release, grossing over $140 million. A director and cast have yet to be signed to do the Time Warp again, but Adler hopes to see the redux broadcast by Halloween 2009.

OK... I'm going to go cry now.

Well I love the original and I have heard great things about the stage version, so hopefully this will be well done, but really why bother making another film version when the original is still widely viewed?

The original is one of my favorite movies of all time. So, hopefully this one will live up to our expectations as to what a sequel should be.
As for casting, I am trying to picture who might best fit into the roles of the original cast, should they make another appearance. Riff Raff as played by Tom Petty would be an interesting choice, considering he can sing (somewhat), and already looks the part.
Maybe a night's rest might help me think of a few others.

Wait this is supposed to be a remake right? Not another sequel...right?

Oops, my mistake.
I still say that Petty should play Riff Raff, though.

Okay, I was worried for a sec that they decided to make something that took place between Rocky and Shock Treatment or something *shudder*

I'm cringing. Hopefully this will be okay, but there is no way they can reprise Tim Curry. That was a one-of-a-kind performance.

The original is always the best. For some weird reason Robin Williams playing Tim Curry's part keeps popping into my head!

An image of Iggy Pop dressed as Riff Raff (in the alien outfit at the end) screaming "Fuck you, bird dick!" pops into mind...

That's what I thought. I get the feeling this is probably a remake for the sake of a remake. From what I've observed, the original is A-OK. But if it's going to be done, I really hope they do it well.

I'm still extremely skeptical. One of the reasons that RHPS originally was so great was the actors and their outrageously funny and, well, the way they shaped their characters. Tim's first entry is on my top three list of favourite moments in movie history. No one will ever be able to do it as good as, or better than. that.

Man... Why do I get the feeling they're going to try to make this "edgy"?
Ten dollars says they'll have acts like Manson and Pink involved. Probably Jefree Star was well.
You know what... fuck this idea.

Why do they want to remake the biggest cult movie in the history of cinema? It's like their asking for a lynch mob or something.

Totally agreed. Why would you fuck with a good thing to begin with?

I am afraid so very afraid, especially with MTV involved.
Why ruin something that so many people love and hold near and dear?
I can just see it, teenage girls swooning over some actor choice in the movie saying they love it when they have never seen the original.
Tim Curry could NEVER be replaced as Frank`n Furter.
I cry melodramatic tears of loss.

Oh fuck no.
Red lips do not make you a Frankie shoo-in.
Plus the complete wrong voice for the part.
Damn the modern world for not being creative enough to come up with there own movie ideas rather than remake perfectly good ones.
