Everyone tells me it's really amazing, and I do want to see it, but I still haven't gone.
What do you think of the movie, those who have seen it?

From what I can tell it sounds fantastic and has to be seen in 3-D. I really want to see it but I'm still somewhat biased against the film as making it in NZ was really cheap but nearly killed the film industry in NZ; we don't have the stamina to keep up on such projects.
That being said I am looking forward to seeing it with some good film critic friends of mine.

I enjoyed it a lot. Of course the story, or moral of the story is nothing new, and clearly a comment on society and environment destruction issues, but it's a good film nonetheless, and the effects are great. The 3D element is good, and nothing like it used to be with those shitty paper specs with coloured lenses.

Going to see it Boxing Day with Becca.
Can't be arsed with 3D, I watched A Christmas Carol in it and it was shitty.

Well seeing as so many people have hyped it up so much and I heard somewhere that it was one of the most expensive movies ever made, it isn't that special.
It's a good movie but it's not incredibly awesome. The planet they're on is absolutely beautiful though.

How the fuck could anyone even consider seeing Avatar in 2-D? James Cameron's overwrought, outrageously self-indulgent Dances-with-Smurfs Fern-Gully-in-Space plot can't possibly be of actual interest to somebody, can it? The whole point is the allegedly groundbreaking new 3-D.

I walked out thinking great movie or greatest movie.
Since I work at Regal's Cinema, I have seen it three times.
There is a good amount of people on all film critic websites
debating whether if it's the best of the decade or not and most all
agree it's the best of the year. As do I and I watch a whole lot of movies.

I watched Spy Kids in 3-D when I was like 8... that's about 7 years ago. It's just more CGI-ey

I think one of the points being made from a techinical point of view, is that the CGI is indistinguishable from the real, on an order that's never been seen before. Spy Kids 3-D may have used the same cameras, but it was nothing like this.

I enjoyed Avatar, but I thought it rambled on slightly towards the end. I liked the intensity of it, and I also liked how it ended. I just hate sitting through a long movie in 3D because my eyes get sore and I get really bad headaches. Also, I hate the fact that I had to pay extra because the malco theatre here has those special Dolby 3D glasses. The glasses cost the theatre a lot and so the prices soar.

My fiance took me to see it when it came out.
IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING!!! Our 3-D glasses didn't work very well, so I saw half of it in 2-D and half of it in 3-D. Either way, it was a great movie. I would spend the money to see it again.

I wear glasses for long and mid range distance sight, and so am debating whether to see it in 3D or not; do the 3D glasses fit over conventional glasses?

I would think so, it would be illogical to make 3d glasses that neglect a large portion of the population. If worse comes to wear you can bring tape so you can tape it onto your glasses.

As far as I know they make them so they can fit over eyeglasses, although if you have huge bigass glasses you might be out of luck.
Got a gift certificate for the movies, this might be the one I'll go see. I have to admit I want to see the Princess And The Frog as well, but I'm thinking Avatar won't be as impressive on DVD.

Now I'm conflicted, I hear its long and I really really do not like sitting still for that long, I get antsy and I stop enjoying a movie. I think the only two exceptions to this ever was The Fellowship Of The Ring (knew what was going to happen I guess) and The Dark Knight (it was really engrossing). Is this a "I can't believe that was three hours!" movie?
Also I hear the dialogue is hilariously bad and the story line indeed silly and unoriginal, but I want to see it mainly for the CGI and 3D.

3D gives me a headache so I saw it in 2D.
It was stunning and I totally didn't realise how long it was until I was out.
