Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Tickets for The Cure?
Okay, so I just found out the The Cure tour is being postponed and I'm soo happy because I wouldn't have been able to go on the 26th. But I don't know if there are going to be more tickets available in say like, a few months or something. Does anyone have any info about this? Or am I doomed to never have seen The Cure live? :P

G_G Yeah I agree. But I do like Disintergration as well. Though lately I haven't been listening to it much.

Even the ones that were "goth" after Pornography weren't terribly great in my opinion. They seemed formulated to me. They were good in the sense that they didn't suck, they just weren't good in the sense that they were as innovative as they once were.

Good in the sense they didn't suck is right; Because a lot of their poppy work seems well...effortless. In all due respect toward Smith I felt the biggest impact, depression/personal problems or not, was expressed better than the albums following. Disintergration is dark, but poppy, Evanescence-kind dark.

Effortless is an understatement. Robert smith could go home and get drunk off his beer and forget he was ripping off everyone. There was a certain expectation I should think (being as I didn't get to purchase Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me when it came out) and he just dropped so low.

All I can really say here is you'll be sorely disappointed if you miss out on them. I got my tickets to their Melbourne show off eBay after they'd sold out - nearly cost me an arm and a leg, but it was worth every cent.
Even the songs I wasn't so keen on before sounded amazing live. There's a whole dimension to their music that doesn't come across on the albums (this includes the dimension of Simon Gallup's sexiness >_>).
Anyway yes, the Cure's live show is still purely awesome - even better than it was in '81 according to some of my older acquaintances, though I have difficulty believing that. Also, their current setlist consists mostly of earlier tracks, with entire encores off the Boys Don't Cry/Three Imaginary Boys albums (they didn't play a single song off Bloodflowers which was a major relief, haha).
Yeah, I love this band. A lot.

Oh gawd, I was so relieved when I found out they canceled their North American tour. By the time I decided I to finally buy tickets I had come to a certain doom. I was like "WTF??? $210 for seventh row tickets!!!! Are you fucking kidding me?!! I'd have to suck dick for that kind of money!!!" And I came to accept that I probably would not see The Cure till I was thirty. But now, I don't mind saving up to see them next year.
Seriously, I knew Robert Smith was fat but I didn't know he was also greedy. Teehee, he's fat and greedy.

Good goth what a shame it is to miss out on this.
I thought I knew the answer..though I thought it'd be obvious at this point. *Sigh*
DOOMED. And I hope I didn't upset you with my opinions on the Cure ._.

Like I said, good in the sense that they don't suck, but formulated, so not good in the way older cure was.
