The song theme thread

What theme do you usually use when writing songs? Do you write about politics, murder, pressures of society, monkeys tap dancing for bananas? right now, I'm working on several songs with a greek mythology theme.

What parts of Greek Mythology? I often use the Oneiros for inspiration when it comes to Greek influences. Otherwise, I write about whatever I feel like.

I write about murder. A lot. And love, and the fucked up state of the world. And hallucinations. Lots of hallucinations

Politics and when I'm in the mood, Misfits style horror lyrics, I've been leaning toward the latter lately.

I've been reading about the Trojan war, and the Oddysey book, it's all good. I think I'll be writing a song one on Hercules' Labors, Zeus' promescuity, Theseus' quest, Oedipus' quest, Hepheastus' being thrown from heaven, and having his revenge... man there is alot of stuff I could use!!!

What about Oedipus' complex? :B

I write about past experience of mine or people I know, thoughts, the state of the world, and allegories, mostly in metaphor.

I could fit that in. Hm... maybe a song about the battle of plattai... ugh, the battle depicted in the film 300.

I write mostly about sex, loss, vampirism, death and life in general. But mostly sex.

Personal angst. Broken hearts. Love affairs torn asunder, that sort of thing.

Who was it who that all the content on the world can be written on the back of a postage stamp? I love that quote.

I write a few shitty lines and then throw them in the trash....

I used to write about:
the person(s) I loved.
About hypocrisy
Political things.
Muder suicide.
My new found optimism. (just a phase)

I had a thing for writing "punk"/"punk-ish" stlyed lyrics. I think I did okay at that...
