So, kind of off topic but... I quit smoking recently and the other day i was having really bad nicotine cravings, so i decided i needed to distract myself. I was browsing the web and apparently for around 300$ (ish) you can but a filter that sticks onto a cigarette, and filters all the chemicals but gives you the nicotine. Kinda seems stupid, i mean for 300$ i think ill just suffer until the cravings go away, plus the chemicals are the best part!

I'm a smoker as well, though I plan on quitting for good January first. The odd thing is that when I was small the doctors said I was mildly allergic to cigarette smoke and gave me flonase. My mother is a heavy smoker and she smoked in the house, the car, wherever. At the time I hated it and gave her the doctor's note hoping she'd stop but she never did.
What I'm wondering is if I'm allergic to cigarette smoke how can I be smoking with ease????

Perhaps your body has developed resistance to the irritant?
One of my brothers was severely allergic to cats. He moved in with his girlfriend who had a cat and for a couple months or so he was fucking miserable and probably drank Benadryl by the bottleful while swearing to move out (among other things) but eventually he got to the point where he could live comfortably from day to day and even have the cat come sit in his lap.
Aren't you fairly young too? I've read lots of people saying about how they or their kids have out grown allergies.

One time I was smoking in my living room, and my dog came in. It was an unfortunate accident, but he accidentally inhaled some of my second hand smoke. Within seconds the dog was writhing and covered in tumors. Two minutes later the uncurable cancer had consumed him. He was dead.
Second hand smoke kills. EVERY. TIME.

NaughtyKitten has just singlehandedly ruined any sexual connotations the words 'naughty' and 'kitten' once held.

I want to quit....or do I? I think I shouldn't have started, but it seems there are benefits to smoking cigarettes like it increases my creative urge to paint and write, and it makes me feel more clear--at the same time it fucks me up. Like I'm coughing a lot and feeling sad. But the sadness is not so bad...I think It's growing on me, then again I'm doing it so compulsively....I wonder when I will ever just stop and not do it.

^What? That doesn't make any sense.
I don't know.
I like to drink.
I like to smoke when I drink.
I guess, I'm lucky enough to live in a state that hasn't banned smoking in bars and casinos... yet, I should say. It's on the ballot either this year or next, I don't remember. It will eventually pass.
What I don't understand is that there are bars, in my town, that don't allow smoking and there are some that do. If you don't want to be around smoke go to the non-smoking bars. Easy, right? Guess not.

MMmmm cigs. I used to have a much more difficult time getting out of bed in the morning before I discovered them. Don't know why people need to evangelize their anti-smoking beliefs upon me if they don't like it. They should just walk away holding their breath, or whatever. Couple times I got seriously ill and the smell of cigarette smoke became nauseating to me, that's what I did, I walked away from smokers. Or if the person was in my space and I couldn't leave, I pointed that out. I hate antismoking zealots who walk up to me out of nowhere and start telling me their statistics and horror stories. I know the dangers of smoking. I choose to take the risks, and use tobacco products with moderation. Sort of like fast food. Everything, absolutely everything can kill you. Excercise can kill you, it can trigger a sudden heart attack. These are personal lifestyle choices we make, and unsolicited personal comments are intrusive and rude.

Alright well...thought they haven't the right to come up and speak to you about it, they are right. Smoking is probably the stupidest fucking habit in the world. And it makes you smell nasty and other people have to breath in your stink. I think if I was in an enclosed space with someone busting ass for twenty minutes I'd have no qualms about telling them to cork it or suffer the consequences.

I assume you aren't a smoker.
Well, once you've been smoking for a while, you get these things called nicotine fits. During a nicotine fit, you get pissed at every little thing, and you're generally just a pissy douche until you get your smoke.
I used to do under the table work at the docks. Part of what I did involved stacking up crates in this little shack thing. One guy brought them to me, and I put them where they were supposed to go. Well, the guy bringing me boxes didn't like cigarettes, and I was ok with that. Whenever we worked together I never smoked. One day it was raining, and while normally everybody eats their lunches outside/in their cars/wherever. Neither me nor non-smoker had a car, so we were hanging out in the shack eating lunch. Since I'd been stuck with the guy all day I hadn't been smoking at all. After I ate I was getting really pissy, and dying for a cigarette. I decide fuck it and light one up.
Non-smoker gets all offended and tells me to go outside. I told him it was raining, he said he didn't care, that he didn't want to be around my smoke. Now, aside from the fact that smoking (Thats burning tobacco) while wet is a pretty tricky job, he was being a total dick about it. Anyway, I ended up just making bitchface put up with the smoke until he finally left. Motherfucker got me fired for that.
Stupid anti-smoking dicks.

What I love are staunch anti-smokers that drive around in Diesel cars. I presume Peugeot aren't exactly a popular brand in the states. They are the only car brand that produce Diesel cars with a particle filtre. All other Diesel cars spit out highly carcenogenic fumes.
I don't see people smiting the car industry.

Yeah that wasn't him being a dick, that was you being a dick. He told you that he had a problem with you smoking, you don't know what that problem is, yet you lit up around him anyway. Did you ever stop to think that maybe being around a smoker causes him more discomfort than smoking causes you? Plus it may suck to stand in the rain and smoke but people do it all of the time, unless it is a torrential downpour than you can do it, and if it was raining that hard then you could have done is ask the guy if you could open the door an smoke right inside the doorway.

I enjoy the taste and the smell!
I don't care what it does to my lungs ...

1. It was a pretty bad downpour
2. The shack doesn't even have a door, and there are so many holes it barely kept the merchandise dry.
3. His only problem with it is that he hates the smell and doesn't want to inhale second hand smoke. Why couldn't *he* have stood outside? Honestly I worked in that shack almost every day for the time I was working there, I also regularly ate lunch there. Him also being the 'new guy' at the dock, I was a bit pissed that this random guy just comes into my shack, where I've been eating and smoking in all summer, and tries to make *me* stand outside in the rain. He could have stood outside, he could have went inside to the office, there were lots of places he could have gone. Why is it me who has to suffer for bitch boy?
