I think Depp is a good actor. Not an insanely amazingly fantastic actor. But I will say I do think he deserves credit as a good actor.

And as far as them always being in Burton movies...

Depp has only really been in like.. half of them. So that's a bit of an exaggeration.

And Carter hasn't been in nearly the same amount...

Looks promising. I always took satisfaction in the dark undertones of the original story of "Alice in Wonderland", just as other fairytales we grew up with that always had happy endings, but had different endings in the original stories.

For example: In "The Little Mermaid", the mermaid did not end up with the prince, as he had ended up with a temple maiden. The mermaid ended up as sea foam ceasing to exist, but was resurrected as a sky spirit.

Big deal. Johnny Depp's an okay actor, but he's not all that great. And as for Tim Burton, his appeal has grown quite stagnant over the years. I've not seen much concerning the film, only a few images, but what I've seen so far has left me less than impressed.

I'm exited for this movie. My friend is über hyper too, she loves Alice in Wonderland and is obsessed with the mad hatter. She's going to wear her female mad hatter costume; she's so cute!!

I finally got around to seeing the trailer. I was already less than impressed. My opinion of this project has sunk even lower. The scenery and landscapes are nice, if run-of-the-mill. If this movie was coming from just about anyone other than Tim Burton, run-of-the-mill would probably work just fine, but coming from Burton one expects someone that's more than just run-of-the-mill. Then we have live-action characters, which is fine, especially considering the people playing them (with one exception). But, amongst these live-action characters are horribly generic-looking CGI characters. It would be fine if they looked realistic, but twisted in such a way as you'd expect from this story, but no, they look like something you'd expect from a Shrek movie if the CGI artists did as little work as possible. The over-all look of the movie has me saying "what the fuck?" And not in a good way. And, finally, there's Johnny Depp. The trailer doesn't show much of him at all, but if what it does show is any indication, then Depp is quite simply the wrong person for the role of the Mad Hatter.

I think it looks good. I think Depp is a brilliant character actor, the music pleases me, and the scenery looks really bright and stimulating.

Thumbs up.

I love both Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Tim Burton really knows how to make a Children's story turn goth, without making it look too scary for kids (like Nightmare Before Christmas). And I love Depp for his versatility.

Mad Hatter seems to have a big role there... but I'm kinda hoping that Burton's version stays true to the original story because the Disney's version is a bit too happy-go-lucky.

The trailer isn't too impressive though. not even the music. Hopefully they can pull off better ones in the future. I don't want my two favourite celebs to be a disappointment.

I am excited to see it, though I really rather like the look of '9'.

I'm most interested in seeing Christopher Lee and Stephen Fry. I really like both actors and am interested to see what they do inside a Burton film.

Tim Burton's aesthetic is so trite that I can already extrapolate the entire movie, frame by frame, from the director and title.

Tim Burton is a tod ( Meaning: super awesome faggy person ) Still, he might never exceed himself after Nightmare before Christmas, Jack Skellington is a major character.

He wants to make a movie of 1984.
I like Burton overall, but how the fuck is he going to make 1984?!
Will Big Brother have a skinny tuxedo?
Will Winston break into song about destroying the system?
Will the totalitarian architecture have fancy spirals everywhere?
Will the proles be proficient in swing?

Word.

Tim Burton fucks up everytime he gets a hold of the whole contract. NBC wasn't even his creation, he just directed and threw together some sketches.
Everything he touches these days turns to shit. He'll find a way to make it reasonably charming for one viewing and one viewing only ...if even.

Though I do like how Helen Bohem Carter's Queen of Hearts looks as if she's searching for the brick she lost years ago 'Find my stash! I need a fucking hit!!' haha

I know but I enjoyed the game anyway. I'm actually playing it again in "Nightmare" mode; I think the first time I played it was Medium or Hard. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any difference with "nightmare" and the other difficulty modes.

Is it such a terrible thing that I'm not a Tim Burton fan? His films are very hit-or-miss for me. Sometimes he gets it pretty much right (Beetlejuice, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow) but when he gets it wrong...

I think he can be a very self-indulgent director. Edward Scissorhands was crap. I quite liked The Nightmare Before Christmas - I saw it in the cinema when it came out - but I can't imagine watching it again more than very occasionally.

In any event, I am not hugely excited about this forthcoming release. I have no doubt it will be pretty, but will it be watchable?

True, true.

I haven't laughed that hard in a while.

I have a feeling that Johnny Depp will be cast in the role of Winston. Heh.
