This forum is not representative of goths as a whole in the least.

I don't see how you could read only bad comments, considering I just complimented like three people and got compliments from several other people.

Technically we're not really supposed to do either, just be gothic.

Hhaha GM ^_^
If you want to see the nice side of Gnet go to the pictures thread. That thread is nothing but shameless compliments, even more shameless camera whoring, and Methadrine drooling over every woman on this site. ^_^

Perhaps if you adhered more closely to the conventions of Standard English, we'd be nicer to you...

Drooling, eh? I wouldn't call it that... but some of the ladies around here actually are quite stunning and they should know that. (the observant ones have surely noticed that I don't hit on them though.)
Anyway, I quite like the little unspoken initiation rite that every newbie here has sort of pass. The ones that do are really fun to have around while those who don't.. well.. they either go for greener pastures or they bitch around for a month until they realize that they indeed should go for greener, or even pinker pastures.

If you're talking about the flame at me I think it was about my bad grammer and spelling.
I mean srsly!
every time I read a post where some unaware newcomer has posted an innocent post asking a question or what ever, the first reply they get is someone moaning about their grammer or spelling rabbling on about how they can't understand what they are saying beacuse they forgot to put a capital letter at the start of every sentance.
IMO I would get the feeling that If i'm moand at over something so unimportant as a typo or a missed out comma I would probly think "fuck you then you cunts, and theres me thinking and hearing goths were nice when you get to know them, seems like this place is just full of stuck up pricks"
Do you really want newcomers to think that about its members?

Me neither, and I joined over the summer. Maggot (surprisingly enough) was quite nurturing, and helped keep me from making an utter ass of myself.
I think people are just so sick of all the trolls and idiots these days to be very patient with the newcomers.

I have made like 5 insults the whole time I have been here. All my other posts are neutral or complementary.

My coming passed without so much as a blink. Only twice been in an actual argument on here and ever so often complimented ever-so graciously be members here and there.
A lot of us are just tired of the "children" and trolls coming, making waves and then going. We've lost a bit of our patience. Right or wrong, it is what it is and any newbie with any sense and semblance of a backbone will soon learn that this is a truly wonderful site.

About the spelling... it's in the FAQ for Newbies. People really should read that before posting.

The Firefox browser has a built in spellchecker. It won't solve all of your problems (such as grammar and starting threads for every stupid thought that crosses your mind), but your life will immediately and measurably improve.
Anyway, if you're not already using Firefox then you're a moron.
Oops, I mean cupcakes, gumdrops and rainbows! I don't want to be too negative.

I have become bitter and i make no effort to hide it. There have been too many trolls and illiterate children joining. I am sick of seeing the degradation of forums, that used to be worth the time some of the more senior members were spending here. I just feel like i cant tolerate this shit anymore and am therefore no longer shutting up. If it means i come across as a huge bitch, then tough shit. People that deserve my respect get it. People that start pointless threads, or spell like my goldfish are just a waste of thread space. I have no problem if i see that someone is actually TRYING to adhere to the basic ideals of what the forums are about. But someone who cant even read a big-assed title stating that its for NEWBIES, can jump off a bridge for all i care.

People here are generally okay. You can have a 'strongly worded debate' with someone in one thread, and then agree with them in another. How they react to you is entirely down to how you act. If you post like an idiot, type like you're smashing a brick into the keyboard, and generally give the impression of being utterly lacking in resourcefully, intelligence and basic courtesy, then you can expect to be flamed all the way to hell.
If, however, you take the time to check your spelling and grammar and be certain you're making valid points (or at least not contributing too badly to thread-rot and troll-feeding), then you won't run into trouble.
I've been criticised more than once in my time here, but it's been because of genuine opinions and standpoints, which I am entitled to make and others are entitled to debate, or vice versa. It doesn't cause me to think that forum members are out to get to me or are nothing but overly critical bitches.

I just figured something out!
To actually become part of the "crew" you will first have to be bitched at and kicked about till you get your Literature and facts right. Only then are you worthy enough to join the rest of the "Elders"
Where have I seen such behaviors before?
Oh yea! Hazing! just with out the running around naked and eating shit (altho most newbs on here have to put up with shit from others just to fit in)
"Hazing is an often ritualistic test and a task, which may constitute harassment, abuse or humiliation"
Woot go G.Net!
But I have to admit, I think that since coming here and seeing the bitching going on and the arguments etc I have learned to not be such a pussy when someone says something mean about me and also brushed up on my spelling (no wait I thank Teh FireFox for that) and my grammar.
*bows* Thanks Team G.Net for showing me the way to be just like you!
XD

No, there are only certain people who find it necessary to insult whomever at any given moment. They do it all the time. And no, it's not right, but they do it anyway.
Normally I would think, we should accept people.
