....You are seriously blowing shit out of proportion dude. I mean a man of 40 should be able to take things a little more lightly. If you truly have a condition then I'm sorry to have offended you. But even still....REALLY?

Maybe she isn't really around people with true ADD/ADHD. And maybe I'm a little sensitive when it comes to people posting public opinions about it not being a real medical condition. But the comments were glib and ill conceived at best.
From the way you reacted to the title of the thread to how you are responding to some of these comments, I would say yes, you are a little sensitive about it. Which is all well and good - by all means, be protective - but it's not going to help public opinion much if you react vehemently when people don't understand. Besides, I think there is a difference between Jin saying, "well, I just can't believe this is a medical condition!" and saying "for some reason, I convinced myself it's not." If anything, she is admitting her lack of knowledge about the subject. Which I think is honest and admirable, but that's just my opinion. Not fact.

And as you yourself admitted, there are degrees of ADD. Not everyone wants/requires medication or reacts well to it. Perhaps she has known people who did not react well to their ADD medication.

I am all for educating people on the facts, but treating people as outsiders who cannot possibly understand feels counter-productive.

THANK YOU priestly.

All of my friends who took medication for ADD ended up severely depressed, and then ended up having to take anti depressants. I just feel like you don't have to take medication for everything that doctors "tell" you, you must take. I mean granted, I'm sure there are people out there, who truly have a condition, and Ben might be one of them. But I'm pretty for sure the the majority of kids, and adults are taking medications for no reason.

That sounds familiar. When I was in middle school, probably around 13, I was prescribed Ritalin (I think), and I remember growing constantly more irritable, short-tempered, and having my appetite diminish. And when I was 13, I could afford to eat all I wanted. Granted, this was at the height of YOUR KID IS RETARDED BECAUSE HE/SHE HAS ADD craze.

My pharmacist roommate will be the first to say that doctors don't know how to properly medicate someone, haha.

Dude, you are totally reinterpreting her remarks to paint them in a positive light, but that ain't the truth. Her comments were not just misunderstanding or the remarks of someone who needs to be educated. My last remarks, if they aren't taken out of context, stand on their own.

And you aren't painting them in a negative light?

YEP ... but it wasn't so much painting as just bringing negative statements into sharp relief.

First of all they don't have to be painted in either a positive nor negative light. They stand on they're own. It was my opinion. Why do you care so much about what I think anyways? And I'm going to stand my ground and say that you are indeed being a nannypoo.

ANDDDDDDDDDDD........this was merely a fact brought about from what I've experienced yet again. I didn't say "oh I don't like when Ben is on meds....hes such a dull and quiet person". I don't know you, I don't care about you, and I don't think I would ever want to. GROW THE FUCK UP. Sharp relief my ass.
