Snake Corps--

they're not unknown, but I don't hear many people going on about how great they are.

They were on Midnight records, who put out a lot of amazing stuff like Cindytalk, Sad Lovers and Giants and The Essence.

Both Black Tape For a Blue Girl and Angelspit are known bands, to those who named them.

Mechanical Moth.

Naked and The Dead and Penis Flytrap are two very underrated goth/deathrock bands of the eighties. Of course underground but they're really isn't much reference on them expect for the goth subculture wiki article, though they didn't talk about the band there.

Not sure if anybody's heard of them. I thought everybody knew of them, but recently I was proven wrong. Everybody I know hasn't for some reason or other.
Lunarclick is a band with a break-off from Deadsy, Carlton Megalodon who joined because of his girlfriend (how sweet). They're a great electronica band.

And someone said October Project earlier. They're great! I listened to them when I was younger. I didn't think anyone else would know about them.

Also, Jesus on Extasy, a break out industrial metal band from Germany. On their myspace they have some songs, pretty good. Their album comes out in March.

Welcome Devi; I'd recommend you to make an intro in the Introductions Thread.

I love Kaizers Orchestra (thanks, Jillian).

I'd like to add Jay "Munly" Munly, who has recorded albums with Slim Cessna's Auto Club, solo, and with a great all-female string band called (Jay Munly and) the Lee Lewis Harlots. His music wavers between country and goth.

16 Horsepower is fantastic, incredibly dark and scary religious country/rock. I've heard it called 'thrashgrass'.

They probably aren't unknown, but The Black Keys are an excellent, heavy blues-rock duo.

The Reverend Horton Heat makes great, fun rockabilly/psychobilly music.

Oh, and Tech N9ne is the best rapper evah. Just so ya know.

I love Soul Coughing. They were one of my first favorite bands. I'm really disappointed in M Doughty's solo work, though; he really needs to go back to the drugs. :P

A band I think is cool that I don't think a lot of people know is Skeleton Key. I saw them open up for Rasputina and they put on an amazing show...they also had a gnome in their bass drum, which I thought was groovy.

...Oh, and I love Seven Year Bitch.

yeah, I like WhipKraft. They are one of those bands you love or hate, some of my friends really like them and some don't. But I like them because they are original and don't try to sound like some other band and I really "get" them. They remind me a lot of, Fear of God, this really cool band from LA, that no longer exists.

They will probably do really well in Europe, they have more of that sound going on...

Now here's a band I'm dam near positive no one here has heard about, as its unsigned, and has only gotten and publicity in Winnipeg, MB (Canada). The bands name is Nephthys, it was started by a couple of friends a few years back, by this point they only have two good songs, but they are very well made and recorded, wouldn't mind hearing some feedback to what you think of them, you can hear the songs they decided to keep (as they just went threw all their stuff and threw out the mountains of crap) the link is www.myspace.com/nephthysindustrial
and their site is www.handofgoth.com, though that site you can't hear their music. They are releasing one of their songs on a compilation album that the cities only goth bar is putting out.

Thats pretty much what they were going for, their trying to bring back goth like it was in the good old bad old days, their into the whole 80's scene and music, they are making a new song though thats heavily influenced by lacrimosa.

Animal Collective.

They aren't a goth band, and I'm not sure how known they are, but they're definitely amazing.
