History of the Leland City Club

...which is the club I attend most often. It's pretty interesting. I guess. At least the Jimmy Hoffa part is.

It is quite interesting, two club, restaurants, and a hotel in one building all within a relatively short driving distance from my father's twin brother. Though upon futher investigation beyond the initial description of it in the website I came up with some rather mixed imagry. First off there are some very consitant images that you see on all the websites you look it up at http://www.travelhero.com/photos.cfm?id=34318 , as well as some lovely views like this http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationP...n.html#1856334 , but then I came across some rather disgusting shots like http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationP...n.html#1048797

as well as a series of alternating reviews of how lucky they were to have survived their stay there, or how lovely the older elements to it are 9 times out of 10 it was a survival story each more entertaining than the last I'm betting most but not all of the rooms were in bad condition. Apparently this hotel has also been a huge business killer for Ramada. Overall I've gathered it as a great concept, amazing lobby, lousy rooms. The hotel could do with better management of the resources. Not a bad hotel to buy and fix up if you ever win the lottery. Personaly I'm tempted to possibly go there but make sure beforehand to get assigned one of the good rooms.

You could not PAY ME to stay a night in that hotel (that, and I live about 10 minutes away from the club). Most of the actual hotel business is from out of town clubbers or hookers. A few people live up in the hotel, as well. The lobby looks great, but that's about it. The owner is a fucking cheap-ass. Same stereo system from the 80s, no doors on the bathrooms, there's a HUGE hole in the back of one of the walls in the dance floor, which leads to a third story drop, no heating or air conditioning system.

Don't let that steer you away from going to it, though. It really is a fun place. It's huge, they play a wide variety music, and there's always interesting people to meet. Many people come from out of state just to go there for one night.

If you ever do venture up to Detroit and come to City Club, let me know. Most people have a hard time finding the entrance their first time around =)
