Am I a mallgoth/posuer?

I've always had an obssesion with the macabre, hell that's how i got into goth culture... And I've always had an appriciation for gothic style music. ( I love Siouxie and the Banshee's) but most Gothic posuers listen to metal (and they usually incorrectly label it as "goth" music) Mostly it's those fake hot topic bands, but some can name-drop a few real metal bands like, Metallica, Pantera, ect...

Anyway, i consider my style to be a fusion of Gothic and Metal cultures; i honestly don't care what people think about me, but i don't want to send the wrong signal...

Telling us you deserve props for dissing people who listen to metal as "poseurs" yet not only mix the two together but can't even spell the insult let alone the name of one of the bands indirectly responsible for the genre you obsess over to justify your views of the "macabre" for the sake of maintaining that not-so-fresh-yet-oh-so-dark feeling correctly says something.

Check it out, you listen to goth rock, you're a goth. You dress in all black and listen to Manson or MCR, you're a goth. Fuck goth. Yes, there's a lot of truth to the meaning of the word in regards to what it actually is, but honestly, even the real definition of goth is pretty much insignificant to one's identity.

Sure, it's annoying to have people who listen to metal consider themselves goth. But does that stop you from loving Bauhaus?

What is and isn't goth is old and fucking lame. EVERYONE is a goth. How's that? At the end of the day, it wont make you any less of an asshole or a tool.

Well, I simply see no reason to try to protect the meaning of a word that so many tools find to be powerful or interesting. If someone isn't smart enough to appreciate an art movement, that's on them. You should only ever have to tell someone once if they're mistaken. If they want to continue with their misunderstanding of what goth is after you've corrected them, then let them.

Saying it once to someone is fine and dandy. We all need to be corrected if we're mistaken, but it's not worth debating over when that person is so dead set on thinking it's Poe and MCR.
