Don't they have dollar stores in Canada? I pay 99 cents - $1.99 for pairs of trouser socks to cut and make arm warmers. Also, I wear cheap stockings with the waist cut off for sleeves.

Yah we do have dollar stores, but I don'e recall seeing any knee high socks. If I did, I probably wouldn't be begging for help now.
I like your idea prophecyofdoom.

Hehe, I never worked out how you finish sewing something. As in when you get to the end, how to tie it up properly. I always feel like its going to come loose, so usually I try to finish somewhere out of sight, and super glue it down

Opteron, if the shops don't sell plain old stripey socks ( which I find very odd since the world seems overrun with the things ) then why not try Ebay? I've seen them sold in packs of 3 on there, all sorts. Even actual arm warmers will be cheaper on there than $40 ect, including P&P .

Make your own out of socks and dog chains.
You can also buy spikes and such to put in there. Or lace them up with ribbons.

I've gotten really into this DIY stuff lately. The other day I customised my long black jacket by adding a corset ribbon to the back of it (looked pretty nice for my first project), then yesterday I made an arm warmer.
Velvet fabric (I have shit loads of this stuff) some black ribbon and lace.
look like this but all black and with a double bow around the wrist part

Wheni make things in a pair they never turn out the same so I'm not even going to try make another.
It was pretty easy to make too.
Oh and this site is really good at helping with DIY stuff.

What's so funny about DIY, Opteron? Socks make great armwarmers.
On a side note, has anyone ever told you that your communication doesn't seem at all collected or consistent?
On one hand, you support the idea of DIY and then later, you laugh at the idea of DIY. You are a strange bird. I'll just say it. Yes, a strange bird.

Maybe the very funny part was that he thinks that is a bit too ambitious of a project for his limited skills?

Arm warmers... I'll share you a secret that my group of dark ethnic hi-tech cyber-punk obessed friends do(which always look great btw)
They take a long legging sock. Yes, a sock. they put in on their hands, pull it towards the very end of their arm, and cut holes with sisccors(my spelling sucks I know) for their fingers.. sometimes they make handless arm warmers of course. It's a very fun DIY thing to do.. and once you master it, arm warmers could never look better ^^

Phenom you seem nice but you should read more than just the first post before replying as the diy-ing of a sock into an arm warmer has already been stated and talked about

I made a fishnet shirt out of a pair of stockings. It looks awesome, but would look better if I finished it with ribbon or lace... speaking of sewing, I have to sew boning into a shirt that I have...
I also want to make something like this: http://growabrain.typepad.com/photos...*****_goth.jpg

Once again, you missunderstood me KontanKarite, I love DIY! I laughed because I couldn't imagine chains on armwarmers or how I could do it. That's it. Also if you read my post, you would notice that I didn't say anything about DIY! Meathead!

Obviously. I mean, it's easier to spend 40 bucks on socks I suppose. I know I'm being pretty much a dick to you, man. But that's because you remind me of an old school version of me. So take it as me hating my past or take it as me trying to help you find a better way.
I'm not that much of a meathead, I promise.
