Razor cuts/burn help
Yeah so i was taking my daily bath, and i was shaving my leg and it was dull and i kinda cut a long line up the side of my leg. So i was wondering to all the girls on here since i have never cut myself before today and since im a guy and not to sure what to do, what the best thing to do like a bandaide or something?

No actually i never have, i have on the face but not on the legs or private parts. I know but still if you can make it go away faster why not?

Uhh, treat it like any other cut. If it's super bad, clean it normally, and neosporin. I never cut myself but if for some strange reason I get a nic, I'll just leave it be.

I did that once... gah, the memory! I had casts removed from both legs after a muscle surgery and the resulting growth left me with bushlegs, so I had to shave...
...which I had never done before... (and don't really even have to now)
So I put a liiiittle too much pressure on the razor on that first go, and the resulting sound...

and the gush of soapy blood. Oh, the fun...
Just dress it in Neosporin and bandage it up if it's deep, other than that, it'll dry up on its own and go away in a week or so.

If we are speaking of razor burn/rash; always let your razor sit in alcohol for a few minutes before shaving. Aftershave definitely works. Or use an exfoliator. I use the HEMP stuff.

It appears that he is talking about not "burn", but "shaving actual flesh away instead of hair"...
::pain::
...so he wanted a little first aid help. As bad as the damage seems, the treatment for it is pretty basic, in that you'd treat it the same as a nasty shin scrape from something like um... playing soccer.
Don't mind the possible scarring? Ignore it and it'll go away in about a week.
Wanna alleviate the possibility of scarring? Treat the damage and bandage it.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was started by someone who needed help hiding their self-inflicted cuts and burns from their loving parents. I'm glad I was wrong, but someone had to suffer to save me from self-immolation-causing rage.

There is a thread about self harm but it was kinda..."hellow, im a stupid kid who cuted and im so retarded my mom found the knife" or something like that xD!
Now...back to the topic, you can use whatever you want to take care of it, but nothing will work if you rip off the scab. I always used to do that when I was small, and I ended up with some scars...=)

Got any piercings? Same deal. Keep it clean, rinse it with clean mildly salty water once or twice a day, and try putting some tea trea oil or vitamin E oil on it to reduce any scarring that could happen. But otherwise, just leave it alone... your body heals fine all by itself.

Oooo! I've done that, I have a wonderful scar from that on my right leg.
I'd keep it bandaged if it's a wet, open, wound like thing, make sure you use non-stick gauze if you do that.
If it's dry, keep it clean, don't pick at it, and rub pure cocoa butter on it, for the scarring, and neosporin for keeping it clean. You can get the butter at CVS, in the make up ail is where it is at the CVS I go to.
Moisturizing helps everything from burns to scarring.\

I shaved skin off my shin twice... in the same shaving session... *hides head in shame*
But yeah, keep it clean, make sure it doesn't stay wet for overly long periods of time. Salt water works well.
I'm not the best healer in the world, so my cuts always get infected, no matter what I do... if I ignore it, it gets infected. If I bandage and polysporin it, it get infected. If I put some of that liquid bandage stuff on it, the bandage stuff wears off and then it gets infected.
BAAHHH!!
I must ask, out of curiousity, why were you shaving your legs?

I shave my legs once ever month just cause i like it better than having a hairy body no other reason.

Ok.
In the winter, I shave because I like the feeling of pulling on a pair of light, silky-type pants over newly shaved legs. If you didn't notice this, pay attention next time. It's wonderful.
