That's not for me or you to judge. "Rewards" was the term used. Not respect. You say "her life will be an exercise in irony" but no one can tell that for sure, so that's just speculation. As for now, she lives an easy life that she has not had to work for at all. That was my point.

I was referring to her money. I never said it gave her character. It's definitely a reward, though. I never said respect is or isn't a reward, but I also didn't apply it to her at all.

With that, I'm done with this Paris conversation. What I intended on saying was that, unfortunately, sometimes people get rewards they don't work for. That's a fact. It sucks, but it's true.

Or you can open your own business, and do things the way you want. That is what I did. I live in an UBER conservative area, I am the towns only grown up "goth". I opened a nail salon. It is very edgy, decorated pretty gothy, I goth out for work. People said I would go under, I proved them wrong. Sure, I get flak. Get it all the time actually. But other people come in, love my place, see that I am damn good at my vocation, and I prosper. I am one of those "be true to your heart" folks.

I envy that, I would want nothing more than to open up my own business which would be entirely just a goth shop, selling clothes, books, music, and movies except for the fact that I'm pretty sure it would fail horribly... Maybe by the time I'm old enough to do that, there will be a big enough scene.

I do agree that the greater rewards are those you had to fight to get, but that doesn't mean one cannot be happy with undeserved pleasures.
