Ah ok thanks.
At least there was an attempt then. Hopefully the owner (if you're not her) won't give up on Gnet.
i'll leave you alone about it now.

I like Brad.
So I talk to him when he's here.
If that's arse licking then if you have any friends, which I'm sure you must do somehow, they have damn clean arses.

No, I enjoy the freedom. But I feel like I am walking on eggshells...I am so fucking tired of being ridiculed.

I'm pretty sure that'd happen just the same if there were mods around. Not you, I mean ridiculing in general. Mods are just people with a little extra power, which often doesn't turn out so well.

I think the balance right now, at this very moment, is nice.
Anything more I would not feel comfortable with, but we can function (for a while) on less.

The scripts for that have gotten pretty brutal and we'll probably have to shut the boards down for an upgrade to help deal with it. We catch a lot of them, but they are pretty relentless and they are all over these communities lately. This is by far not the only one with the same problem. Last I did a cursory search there were over a thousand that got through the registration process recently.

I get it too. I think they have replaced the previous forum software with another package.

We're actually upgrading the environment, not replacing the package. Sorry for any trouble.

Maybe you should look at branching out in the investment and looking for input capital from new partial owners.
Some people might also have things like hardware and/or net space/traffic to donate. Some people might have just bought a set of new matching German automobiles for themselves and their wife and also own a small web hosting company and be willing to donate time/money/services/hardware for the GNet cause.

Did you try the solution of adding one or two questions at registration?

i thought Darren banned you for death threats toward a member? Or is my memory failing me?
It did get pretty nasty about that time and i don't think all of them were ProBush/ProWar.

Not all of them were but most were and had no problem expressing their views. I personally was quite anti-Bush but I wasn't particularly vocal about it on here because I knew how the mods would act, despite the fact that I was well liked by the majority of them.

i don't think it would have mattered, Soli. Maybe if you were as vocal about it as Sternn was and then i reckon only Scott and Mark would have looked at you sideways. lol

Most were conservatives? I can't picture that in a goth forum.

The person behind the Gothic.net account, I like you. Post more, we need all the cool active members we can get.

If gothic.net is hoping that we'll learn to get along and have civil discussions on our own, he/she is going to be sorely disappointed. It's a lovely goal, to be sure, but a rather unrealistic one.
At heart, we're a pack of bloody savages with modern technology. That's not to say that other forums aren't made up of savages. On the contrary, it's a commonality between all groups. Tighter moderation won't fix that. It would only present the false appearance of civility by forcefully removing contention rather than resolving it. In short, it would be treating the symptoms rather than the cause. The cause, unfortunately, seems to be untreatable.

What's so unfortunate about it?

It's unfortunate, to me, because I think that kindness is a virtue. Spouting bullshit and trying to hurt people simply for fun, or stepping on someone else's throat just to climb a little higher up the social ladder, is not.
I know, I'm such an old sentimentalist.

You make it sound like it's an epidemic. Between me not being able to see where's this evil around Gnet, and you not being able to see how much we actually get along, I believe you're the one that is wrong.
