Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Best Hair Product Question
I have to admit, it's pretty hard finding what you want in normal stores (so of course that's not the place to go), but what stores would you recommend for hair dyes? I don't want just black, I want red black, like black but when the light shines on it, it shines red. I've seen only black and blue together. I've seen black by itself and red by itself. Ideas please.

Dye it black, then go over it in red

I used to dye my hair this shade called "Black cherry". In the light, you could see the red. I got it from Sally's Beauty Supply.

If you use a regular black dye (not blue-black, obviously) then dye over it in something like Manic Panic Vampire Red you should get that effect. Basically what Raggedyanne said.

Garnier's 100% Color "Soft Black" dye makes highlights look auburnish in the sun, but if you want something more red, then I would follow the previous suggestions of two-process dyeing.

I coloured mine red black once; I think i used some shade by Schwarzkopf, but I canīt remember which. I do know I bought it at H&Mīs, though, so it shouldnīt be that hard to find.

Garnier nutrisse is good. If you mix the soft black with the deep burgundy shade you will get reddish/purplish highlights. That is what my one friend did. Loreal feria used to have an awesome shade called light auburn black, but they discontinued it. Figures since I loved it they would git rid of it.

If you were ever willing to go down the natural route, henna & indigo achieves this perfectly.
