Goth Accessories

What are your thoughts about mixing some more 'traditional' Goth accessories like the Demonia buckled boots, with mainstream looks.

Love the look of buckle boots but I have shite fashion sense

Ideas? Suggestions?

i mix Goth with mainstream all the time.
mainly because I also have shite fashion sense and never have been able to afford to do a whole Goth wardrobe.

I am always amazed when I hear stuff like 'it's too expensive to dress that way'. Dude. What's a goth wardrobe? Some black shit, give or take a few embellishments that are easily done at home yourself.

I don't splurge on jack shit except shoes.

I believe it can be artfully done, and [like PJ said], it's done all the time.

Today I'm wearing my new Demonia skull shoes, Wonderland necklace, bat bracelet, black & orange socks, and Queen of Hearts earrings with normal black slacks and a black sleeveless shirt.

Don't splurge on your clothes, splurge on your shoes and accessories! You can find lots of stuff at second hand stores that can be revamped(har-har).

It takes years to amass a decent wardrobe unless you have a great job and no problem paying rent/bills

Hell, with the right accessories you can wear just about anything and look awesome.

From what I've noticed, shoes are the biggest expense, as jewelry is a little easier to make and clothes easier to alter.

Tam - *nods* can't please everyone so may as well please myself.
AD- aha, plus shopping options here are limited, so I have to scrounge around.

Hearts - the second hand shops are dicey - would be okay if I had another 30 years on me - lol.

Just follow your instincts. No one has a shite fashion sense if they follow what they love. If everyone else in the world thinks it's horrific, it will matter less to you because you're completely happy with your ensemble. Anything you have to second guess at, don't do.

For Me personally I "Splurge" on my wardrobe because it is the main thing I see. I usually make sure it is well tailored and well made. Meaning it won't fray and the dyes in the fabric wont fade easily. Usually after I find a designer or seamstress that has impeccable articles of clothing, I stick with it.

When it comes to accessories, I sometimes go to thrift shops or shop around online for used things or items department stores had a surplus on, which entail will make them cheaper than in store. Also support your local artisans and see if they make any DIY things you love.

thanks MissKiki. I think I'll save my money until I get my body back into shape after having a baby, before i splurge on nice clothes.
