I bet he poked that sting ray. Gave it a good ol' prod.
But I saw on the news that they're not going to release the footage. His friends and family get to see it though.
And we've got the turtle thing here too. Which I think is stupid, 'cause it's not really a turtle, is it? It's more tortoisey.

I was in the Glasgow botanic gardens today with my college class... I overheard one of the glasshouse workers commenting to his mate about how he had wanted to put some stingrays into the little fishpool in one of the rooms, and expressed his annoyance at Steve's method of death.
According to Wikipedia, only 17 people have been killed by stingrays since 1996. That's damn unlucky odds. o_o

Oh my.....*I should not laugh (cannot help it)
I and the family did enjoy his shows though. He did take risks that
made me utter less than complimentary remarks. But shit, what a way to go

I was very sad to hear that happened. He was my favorite animal expert always cared for his animals. But lets all remember the lession he taught us all on how animals and humans can live in peace and harmony and how we must all do our part.

I have always been irritated by the guy but ------Gosh!--------
Such a damn ironic death--about half the world had been thinking "when will he finally get a nice bite in the ass?" for i don't know how many years and now that's pretty much what happened....I will never again believe anyone who doesn't believe in jinxes.

I was hoping he would be stabbed on the street by someone who hates him.. getting stabbed by a stingray is good enough, I guess!
For all of those people crying like an Emo kid who lost his favorite Hawthorne Heights CD, don't forget he had kids who will probably be as fucking insane and irritating as him; a new crocodile hunter!

This thought occured to me the other day, and while I hate to say it, because I was a fan of his (he's entertaining, face it!) doesn't it seem kind of like the stingray was thinking, "God this guy is annoying." *stabby stabby* "There. I just did the world a favor." *swim away*
I know, I'm mean. It's not a nice thing to say.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of his work, too. But I was just wondering what the stingray might've been thinking at the time. :P

I heard a really bad joke about his death.
You know they banned the type of suncream Steve Irwin used? Apparently it doesn't protect you from harmful rays.
Awful.

Arrrgh, sorry if I sound a bit disrespectful to the dead and all. I just really don't think Steve Irwin deserved all the praise he got (especially after disturbing all those whales...grrrr).

No croc, but Elysea Irwini, I think, is a turtle he discovered. Anyhow, I understand your points

I know what you mean, it was that way with Mr. Rogers. I used to watch him every day when I was little, and now I cry every time I see him on TV.

It is tragic, but come on...he had it coming. I expected something like that every time he provoked some poor beast into "posing" for the camera. I, too, thought it would be a snake or something, or a croc (oh the irony!), but like I said, he had it coming. It was a surprise but hardly a shock when I heard about it.
I read somewhere he would've fared better if he hadn't pulled the stinger (or whatever it's called) out of his chest. I didn't know he did that, bu the first rule of such first aid is: do not pull out anything that penetrates the chest wall. Only the surgeon can do that. Not croc hunter.
I feel bad for his kids though. They probably thought they had the coolest dad around. Now they have no dad at all.
