Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Oddly enough, 90% of newer industrial acts seem to sign to industrial when putting an album/single out.

Oh man, I really like most of the bands of Metropolis, AND it's right here in Philly and that makes me happy.
Switchblade Symphony is darkwave, right? Because they are kickin' rad.

Then what are they?

Yeah, I've always wondered about Voltaire - he's going more in the singer/ songwriter genre, isn't he?

Yeah, nothing about Voltaire makes him darkwave.

I'd consider Voltaire to be a sort of dark folk rock thing. Dunno, Voltaire is Voltaire.

Actually, Voltaire IS Voltaire-he is influenced by Darkwave-though if he it applys to his band then the orchestra is very untraditional, so it's hard to classify him under that genre. Of course, he's cited that as an influence as well as goth but it may mean somthing different. For example, goth has influenced him with themes, and darkwave have with sounds such as the cello and violin with the new wave tones. Though he's always truthfully classified as the thing "sort of" in the middle along with folk, Dark Carabet which works for me otherwise he sounds like a gothed out Tom Waits...which he probably is

I'd agree with you on everything, with maybe the exception of the Tom Waits reference, because Volaire can actually sing.

I was searching for Darkwave by genre on Lime Wire and it pulled up Wolfshiem. Is this Darkwave? I saw no other mention of it on this thread.

TheDarknessVisible, you may want to start an introduction thread, otherwise the other members may become rather hostile towards you.
However, I disagree, as wide a genre Goth is, limiting yourself to one genre is plain silly.
