Birthdays

What do you think of them? More specifically, what do you think of your own?

Personally, I hate them. Every time my birthday rolls around, I'm well aware that another year of my life has been eliminated. And I don't have very many friends, so I'm not going to have a bunch of people singing "Happy Birthday to You" or "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" or what the fuck ever.

It's a day I hate. It's a day that reminds me that I'm still approaching death. It's a day that reminds me of what I don't have. And, worst of all, it's just a day.

Does anyone feel the same? Or at least close to it?

And if you must know, my birthday was yesterday. Please do not say something along the lines of "Happy belated birthday."

Refer to my Shitty birthday thread for the one of my birthday stories.

I feel the same exact way you do about them.

Ah, I see. This is somewhat different. I never had a shitty brithday because every birthday has been shitty. With the exception of my 21st, of course. But in the past decade, every birthday, aside from #21, that's happened has been a cause of depression.

Which sucks doubly for me. I'm already depressed. The extra depression is like a kick in the balls. Most of the year, I can deal with it. I can say "Yeah, I'm sad, but I have this and that." But on my birthday, it's like "Yeah, I'm sad, but OH FUCK, SAD SQUARED!!!"

And then I'm fucked. I end up having to find ways to keep from hurting myself. This time around, it's posting on boards. Surprisingly, it's working. (I hope that means that I'm getting better.)

Don't worry, everyone. My birthday is over. I'll soon get better.

I don't celebrate birthdays anymore.
I am slowly eliminating them, but other people are asses about it.

i don't do the birthday thing either. Not because it reminds me that i'm that much closer to death or anything. Hell, every day that passes is yet another day closer to the inevitable. Why single out my birthday, eh?

i simply don't think about it.

My birthdays as of late pretty much comprise of my mom calling me and wishing me Happy Birthday. i then may or may not bring it up to my best friend if he doesn't already remember to which he'll respond "Cool...Want to run a couple games on PokerStars?". Which is the way i like it.

The end.

Birthdays are a big deal for us, we all go out to the birthday person's favorite restaurant (or in my case, to my mother's for her fabulous enchiladas!) and have a great time, and this applies to our extended family, not just my nuclear family.

Birthdays for me are usually just immediate family and one or two close friends. I usually don't do anything extravagant, and most of the time I'm horrible about remembering birthdays. I don't even remember the exact date of my own mother's birthday. I've had a fair share of people forget mine too though.

I rather like the way Germans do things. Apparently over there, you buy other people stuff for your birthday. It's more of a "thanks for putting up with me" kind of celebration. At least that way, you wouldn't have to remember numerous dates and you could knock everything out all at once.

Meh, I don't really like my birthday. I guess it's 'cause I'm not a sociable person.
I'd rather just hide under the covers and watch movies all day rather than receive an abundance of cards, phone calls and gifts that are beautiful and people have spent time on but that I know I'll never look at again.

Hmmm well I turned 20 today. It's a good thing, to remember you were born but it kind of sucks because it reminds me how much time I waste. nah, I like birthdays but lol I got tinkerbell stuff. The whole theme was tinkerbell, birthday cake and wrapping paper and tinkerbell perfume. How cute! I wish I was this kind of person, who goes 'How Cute!!' every time they see something like a little stuffed animal, but I just look away most of the time.

I usually can't do anything for my birthday where its in June, in highschool it was exam time so I couldn't have a party, and now I live in a city, and most of my friends go home for the summer. Last year was alright though, my friend Lacey took me to a Mexican restaurant for lunch and the guy I was dating at the time came over and we watched Kill Bill.

This year I'm determined to have someone take me to The Sprout, its a vegetarian restaurant and its apparently VERY good, but I've never gone there before because all my friends think if its vegetarian/vegan, it has to be gross

I stopped celebrating my birthday when I was a kid because something always ruined it not to mention I had no one to invite to a party. This year for my birthday I'll probably still be swollen up like a puffer fish & have to consume birthday cake through a straw because I'm booked in to have all four wisdom teeth removed a few days beforehand.

I invited a few 'friends' a couple of years ago. Nobody showed up and I spent the day alone. Now I only have family parties, which aren't the best. I have nothing in common with my family. All they do is constantly bitch or watch TV (typical Americans, right?) So yeah. Birthdays are shitty.

I love birthdays. It's a time to get all the friends I haven't seen in too long to drag their asses down here for a drinking session. They usually copy me some new CDs in lieu of real presents (cheap bastards), and we sit around and listen, with much playing of guitars, and on the day my brothers all come around with their kids in tow. My mom always makes like a five-course dinner when it's someone's birthday. And Kambili makes me an English breakfast. (By the way, HOW are you guys still alive if that's what you eat in the mornings?)

the 30th is my birthday . I don't feel happy on that day since I'm 19 , and with the years is getting worst ... I'm literally losing all the beauty I ever had .... I'm only 26 ....

But I'd have all the sushi I can eat , that's for sure . And guiness . And porn and wank .
And If I knew some gnetters too , I'd invite you all ..... (to the first two things , heh) ,
