Girls & shaved heads

I was on modblog.bmeine.com checking out the piercings and stuff when I started noticing that a few of the girls in there have shaved heads with or without mohawks... then I saw this girl's pictures.

Now bearing in mind I've been thinking about going a #1 all over for a few weeks now (after watching V for Vendetta and nearly falling in love with post-shorn Natalie), you may see why I now seriously want to get rid of the 3 or so inches of hair I have. The sides are already kept down to a few millimetres. But I don't want to do something that I'll regret later - it'd take a few months for the hair to grow back if I buzz it off and hate it. But on the other hand, I LOVE seeing other girls with shaved heads (just as I absolutely adore guys with long hair).

Should I lop it off?

Well, if you want to try it, go for it. I think it’d look nice. ^_^

My suggestion would be to go online and look at some snazzy wigs or something, just to have a backup in case you don’t like it.

Besides, you can have a ton of fun with wigs if you don’t like it, and they’re relatively cheap if you buy them from the right place. =D

And if you do like it, then more power to you. I’d shave my head too if I thought it’d look decent on me (which it wouldn’t, so there goes that idea. =P )

That is exactly how I came to aquire my wigs. Shaved off all my hair and didn't really like how it turned out. I agree that it's a good idea just in case.

Honestly, maintaining it at the perfectly shaven level might be difficult.

Just honestly, I think you look better with hair.

The wig idea sounds good...but when people who know what they're talking about look, they'll know instantaneosly know it's a wig.

I'd only do it if you had the burning desire to do so.

Depends where you get the wig from and how much you spend. Mine looked rather convincing. Who cares anyway if someone knows its not real? In my own experience, synthetic hair can look better than normal hair and you can do way more with it and be more versatile in your style. 99% of my time outside of work, I wear a wig, eventhough my natural hair is getting rather long.

If people do notice, and say something tell them you're going through chemo and I'm sure they'll shut up about it.

I'd keep it. I love your hair.

If you do shave it, though, wait a couple days before you decide you hate it.

Also, one thing I did get from shaving off all my hair, is a fresh start. My hair was soo damaged from chemicals. You'r hair isn't really that long right now anyways. If you don't like it, I'm sure it won't take long to grow back.

I used to shave my head. I had hair down past my waist and one unbelieveably hot and humid day here I just tied it in a ponytail, cut it off, hacked at the rest of it with scissors and then shaved it with a razor. That started about 4 years of regularly shaving my head to a #1 and letting it grow to about a #4 before shaving it again. The picture on my profile is when I was in that shave/grow/shave routine. I think it's about a #3 length there.

I've been growing it again over the last four years and it is now down past my shoulders again. It has grown back in the best condition and is really beautiful now but is twice as thick as it was before, and it was already really thick. The other thing that was really unexpected was that it used to only have a slight wave to it and now it has grown in with a really beautiful curl.

The best thing that I found about shaving my head though, was that it felt really psychologically freeing. I really felt like I was yelling a big "FUCK YOU!" to the world and that was amazingly empowering at that point in my life.

If you shave it, it'll always grow back. It is only hair.

But if you decide to do it or not do it, make that choice because of what you want to do.. not because you asked people what they think.

I wanted to shave my head for sooo many years. A few weeks ago my parents finally agreed to it and the day before i was going to do it, my ferret asked me not to. So i didnt. i still want to. Bit i'll wait til he's comfy with the idea.
