Chocolate... green and blacks miniatures, actually, and I've just had four of the little buggers.... I must restrain myself! I must go have savoury food! Soup!

Cor, I had a box of those once, they're lovely. Except the orange, and also dark chocolate. I hate orange and dark.

Normally, I drink my coffee black.. I was in the mood for a Star-shmucks kinda thing.
I made a pot of extra-strong, dark roast coffee (heaven), mixed in a teeny bit of cane sugar, some rice milk, added whipped cream and chocolate syrup.. voila! Better-than-Starbucks taste, for a fraction of the price. *smug*
I'm just sad that I don't get a trendy cardboard cup D:
I WANT A TRENDY CUP, DAMMIT!

It is, but so is everything else commercially available.
I'm willing to pay more for the service and quality I get at my Starbucks.

Fair enough, personally I'm a much bigger fan of Seattle's Best, I find their stuff to be a bit richer and full bodied, though my favorite coffee shop is a local one called Port City Java, they make the best raspberry mocha I have ever had, and it is cheaper than any of the big coffee chains.

It's funny, I'm a fan of coffeeshops, and honestly, most of them are just as bad at Starbucks.
I've never heard of Seattle's Best, so I don't know, but there is a place called Crossroads where the prices are NUTS.
Milkboy is also bad...
The Gryphon isn't terrible, but I mean...yeah...

I have only ever seen them in Borders or airports. The quality of their straight up coffee is pretty much the exact same as Starbucks but their drinks are less sweet, that is really about their only difference.

I see, in that case if you ever come to Newport News Port City Java makes a killer vanilla chai latte, it is super sweet and super delicious.

My biggest problem with Starbucks is that they drive local shops out of business. I enjoy local coffee shops; I think the atmosphere is more relaxed. The two local shops around here (one went out of business this past summer..) had GREAT prices.
Starbucks 16oz berry tea - $5.50
Brew Mountain 20oz berry tea - $2.50
I think the one still in business is about $3 for a 16oz.
I make a mean chai latte :P

But why hate Starbucks for being successful?
I mean, they started out as one local shop, too.

I don't HATE them, I'd just prefer to make my own coffee or support a small business.

I hate coffee personally, but when I was living in DC there were multiple coffee shops in georgetown that most of the locals I met swore by (Also stating they were all nearly half the price of starbucks and just as good if not better, but that doesn't really help anyone unless they live in DC). Also near where we lived most kids prefer Caribou Coffee over starbucks. If I remember right it was something to do with having different drinks that they preferred or just simply more variety, though their prices are just about the same as starbucks.
Don't quote me on that, it's all 2nd hand information. Like I said I don't drink coffee, though I do enjoy a vanilla bean frappucino every so often. No whip cream though, star bucks whip cream is absolute shit... I've never personally tasted shit... but I imagine it tastes somewhere around the range of how bad starbuck's whip topping that goes on frappucinos tastes.

Blech Caribou is shit, I have no idea how they got to be so popular, the few times that I have been there my coffee tasted distinctly burnt.

Your friends may also like drinks with enough stuff added to it that you can't really taste whether or not the coffee is crap.
I love a good, rich cup of coffee (Ethiopian is my favorite) but I'm not the type of person who thinks that any coffee will do. As it is I don't drink much, mainly because Jake can't stand to kiss me after I've had a cup, though he likes the smell.
I cannot seem to stop munching on these Nerd jelly beans, they are gosh darn addictive.
