bleaching hair
Okay.. so, I have naturally light brown/blondish hair that I've been dying black for a few years now.
And I want to bleach it pure white.
Any tips on going about this? I've heard it's possible, and I've heard of people doing that a few times before, though I have no idea as to what to do...
Help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible, but your hair won't like it much at all. I attempted to bleach small sections of my previously dyed black hair to white and not only was the damage horrendous, even six hours of bleaching couldn't even lighten my hair to blonde, let alone white.
My first advice is not to do it at all. But hey, white hair really does look awesome when it's done right so here's my two cents:
It'll require a lot of bleach, and I wouldn't use just any bleach either - I've heard good things about Manic Panic bleach when bleaching to extremely light tones. It'll be impossible to bleach black hair to white in one sitting though, so you'll have to bleach it a few times to get it as light as you want it.
The resulting hair will be completely fried beyond repair, but some deep conditioning will probably help that out a bit. There are good henna-based conditioners that have always worked well on my own lightened hair.
Finally, you'll need a toner to take the yellowness out of the bleached hair. It's impossible to bleach hair to white, but you can come close with a very light blonde treated with purple-ish toner.
That's about all I've got... Good luck! (And hey, if it doesn't work there's always old age. That'll turn your hair the purest white available to human hair, haha)

First bleach it really really pale blonde, then use toner, then use peroxide. Finish it up by using bluing solution when you shower.
That's the best I can say.

Be careful when bleaching your hair. I used to bleach my bangs all the time. During one of my bleaching sessions, my hair started to break off in clumps. I cried.

I went to a professional when I wanted mine to my natural color after dying it black. But I wanted to platinum. She told me you arent supposed to jusy dye it at one time, it will destroy your hair and will probably turn out yellow or something. Start small, do streaks of blonde and gradually do more and more. That's what I was told.

Also, black is a real difficult shade to get out. That's why I don't dye my hair black anymore. I dye it a few shades darker than my natural color.

I got mine back to blonde but I dye the underneath part of my hair. I like being blonde, but I still want some black in there.

LOL, nice! Eh who knows, you could pull it off. I like the idea of blondes being goth, obviously.

It does look good on the right person. I think skin tone plays a huge factor.

yeah, I am pretty pale. But I am a natural so...I guess it looks good. Although I have been told that I look better with black hair than with my own natural hair. Weird...

Thanks for all of the help ^^
I'm going to take a go at it as soon as time and money permits. I'm just hoping it doesn't do too much damage, though, because I have really thick waste length hair (and still growing it out longer; at least to hip length) and do not want to completely ruin my hair..
