I dunno how familiar you are with that particular 'newspaper', but it's one that prints wildly bizarre and largely untrue articles just to get readers stirred up. The term "Sun reader" in England is actually a term of abuse. Don't get me wrong, I really pray that this article IS one of the fabricated ones. The paper has a long and 'glorious' tradition of inciting racial hatred against the French. They kind of miss the point that they're largely preaching to the converted!! LOL! I agree this article is desperately upsetting. I hope it's not true.

perhaps their frustration over being pussies for so long has bizarrely backfired and they're now taking their aggressions out against stray dogs, figuring that somehow, that will negate the title of pussy their country has been given. not only a nation of cowards are they, but it would seem they are also a nation of idiotic dolts. after all, when a cat fights back against a dog, people look at the cat a little differently. they must be convinced the rest of the world is calling them "pussy", as in "cat".

post scriptum Not to mention that the hooks through that bit of the snout either went right through the upper jaw bone (which I very much doubt), or were just put through the dogs upper lip (which makes me doubt it would have held the dog through the water without ripping the lip loose. I have a feeling there'd be some bit of a public outcry over this. As much as people seem to rag on the French, they are human just like anyone else. My logic sense is tingling, and it's telling me bullshit. Much like the Toronto Sun.... or the Ottawa Sun in Canada.

It's juuust barely above the National Enquirer status. My right index finger hurts. Sorry guys, but I'm just going to have to leave this one where it is and take my ailment to the whining forum.

Yes! I didn't like to mention The National Enquirer, but you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. The Sun is about on that level for hard-hitting investigative journalism. The paper deliberately has whole "French bashing" campaigns where you can collect coupons for tshirts with 'witty' anti French slogans. Theirs is a world where 'big hearted Sun readers' (and that's a quote) are (so the paper says) solely responsible for saving most of the world. And did you know the reading age for it is 11? Draw your own conclusions. Oh, and BTW, I'm half Belgian and I don't like being called French. Nothing political. Just geographical. Like New Zealand and Australia. Or Canada and America. Or ... oh, I dunno. Bound to be somewhere else.

If you want to know, this story was on every french tv news yesterday: everybody (me included) seem chocked by it. The SPA (french RSPCA) launch a worldwide petition against this thing.
But what also piss me off is the title of this thread: just because some sick men torture dogs, you have to hate an entire country?

Thank you for that, Aurecante. As for me, I think any kind of hate is waste of time, and, ultimately, damages oneself most. But as for racial hatred, I would always try to meet every single member before I decide whether or not I like the race... So if anyone asks if I hate the French/English/whatever, I have to honestly reply "No. I haven't met them all yet." And, as you say 'there are bastards everywhere.'
