Fuck the goth aspect. Fuck that. They are people first.
Any senseless crime defies labels save one.

Lets get back to the deplorable senseless violence and ignore the hate crime that just transpired here . . .

Disturbing.
Another damn good reason for me to keep up with martial arts (I've had some serious use out of them before, for similar reason as this topic.)
I cannot fully present my hatred towards the senseless people who assault other living beings just for the kicks of it. Self-preservation is a reason to kick someone in the head, but otherwise... madness.

Too bad the victims didn't have a gun to defend themselves with.

I know you're right, but sometimes I feel people who engage in such behaviour (beating up goths, not being goths) deserve a sound thrashing!

Ew, a knife? Too close, too personal, too risky. Maybe you should rethink your defense choice. I just cringe at the thought. But then, it's better than nothing if you aren't of age to own something more effective.

I feel bad for these kids, I do. But how wise is it to wander around late at night with no means of self-defense in an area frequented by violent teenagers? Not to mention they were apparently dressed in a way that seems to illicit negative reactions from most people... Maybe, and I truly want to believe this, incidents like this one are nigh to unheard-of in that area... but I doubt it.
It's not to say that those kids were in any way justified in beating up this couple, but I'm questioning the amount of forethought the victims put into their activities.

Right...
All of you guys are probably picturing this lovely--nay-- charming couple. A beautifully frail and pale young woman in a corset and dainty shoes, black lace at her throat, floating down the street at night to catch the moon reflecting from her eyes, her young gentleman at her side.
When all of the sudden---four dangerous "chav" or "wigger" young men spring from the darkness!
You do realize that it was more likely two metalheads or mallgoths being attacked by idiots right?
And you do realize it probably had NOTHING to do with them being "goth" if they were at all?
hell, for all you guys know, the couple provoked it. Try to remember the word "sensationalism."

It just never ends! Back in 2002, there was one night I was on my way to work a graveyard shift at my 2nd job. While waiting for the city train to get to work, 5 teenagers approached me and asked for smokes, I told them I had none and they all said that goths/freaks always have smokes. So they decided to jump me and try to rob me of anything. I was so pissed off that I took them all down on my own till the cops came and stopped the brawl. Lucky the security cameras caught the whole thing because the boys were saying that I was the one trying to rob them, HA!!, the transit security informed the cops that I was the victim. The boys were arrested (2 of them had to go to the hospital from the "self-defence" beating they got from me).
After the cops wrote down my report, I proceeded board the arrived train with bloody knuckles.
Oh, I also had $400 in my wallet at that time, makes you kinda wonder why I flipped to do some serious ass-kicking there.
Overall, I am disgusted about these beatings from violent teenagers myself as I was nearly a victim as well. Lately, I have been hearing or reading about people getting robbed by teenagers in this city and they funny part is that it's the IPODS that they try to take from you. WHAT A FUCKING JOKE THEY ARE!! Teenagers stealing another teenager's IPOD (or some adult's) is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, I just don't get it why they can't get their own instead of pissing their money on high-end clothes that make them look like rapper-thugs.
I do wish that couple a speedy recovery from this terrible incident.

Well, when a 16 year old can walk down a street with a firearm, you let me know. =)
Seriously though, I want something. Brass knuckles, a heavy sack, AK47, something. An armed society is a polite society, or so the saying goes.
If people are going to perpetrate senseless violence, then meeting them by being a pacifist isn't going to help you in a pinch.

Well said. You gotta always be well-rounded when it comes to these kinds of things - handling firearms, making weapons out of seemingly harmless things and martial arts - especially nowadays when it seems like every tom dick and harry's out to get you.
This newsclip raises an eyebrow for me. It just seems so convenient, but then again, anything's possible.
