Oh, it isn't you, it's me. I'm in class and hopped up on a number of Full Throttles and some coffee besides. I'm hitting the backspace key as much as the others combined!

I wish you could learn how to spell. I understand your rant, but I've never actually heard anyone suggest that they are a goth for listening to MCR or Fall Out Boy; that would be the equivalent of saying I'm punk because I listen to Britney Spears.

The best thing to do is ignore the label in general; if you think you are gothic, then by all means, look for people who you think fit the bill and then leave it at that. A label is just something used to identify a group, individual, or object; the group, individual, or object does not cease to be what it is or begin being something else when the label is used, it simply becomes mislabelled or eventually becomes associated with the label. That certainly doesn't mean it's a huge deal; whatever I am is different than a lot of other people, so I look for people who are like me. That sums it up.

I have heard a few people saying they're goth - not many though. I'd have to agree. It really gets my goat when people think that they're being gothic/emo by writing really bad poems and songs as their only creative outlet of pain and aguish when really, they're no worse of than anyone else.

However, on a more realistic note and in terms of myself I generally tend to ignore labels. Like Disfunction says, it's what's associated with the label. I would say my fashion sense was gothic because I like the dark clothes, spiky gear, leather trenchcoats, etc but I wouldn't describe myself as an actual goth. Some people call me a goth, some people call me a half-assed attempt at a gimp suit but I really couldn't care less. I'm just being myself and I'm happy with who I am. None of my close friends are 'goths' but we still get on fine. I accept them for who they are and they accept me for who I am.

Labels mean nothing so why are people so desperate to confrom?

I'm not the world's greatest when it comes to spelling, but for the love of all that is unholy, please read up on "Full stops" and how they are used.

Anyhow, the only people I hear abusing the label are either those looking to use it as a hurtful remark, "look at those looser Goths", or generally trying to portray Goths in a negative light, despite little or no understanding of the culture.

I can't say it bothers or upsets me, if calling themselves a "Goth" or a "Vampire" or "Lord Simon, king of the underworld and devourer of the holy cookies" helps them feel better about themselves and get through their day, then fair play to them.

After all, it isn't like the title of "Goth" is earned or given in recognition of services to the community, so there's really very little to get bent out of shape about.

On an entirely different thread of ranting and whining, I need to vent about my stupid head....This is going on the 2nd week I've had this blasted headache, it's worse sometimes, a bit better others, but it never goes away and it never fades to the point that I can completely ignore it and it's really upsetting me, mostly because the last time I had an intense headache this long and called my doctor about it he flipped out and thought I might have a tumor and then ran some tests, which ended up with confusing results and retests and lots and lots of worried stress on my part considering my family is freakishly unlucky with the random brain tumors and weird things like that so rawr!

Have you been eating healthy, it could be a nutritional problem however 2 weeks is quite a while. Best wishes though, I hope nothing serious is going on.

I would suggest getting your ass to a hospital on the double, Kit.

This worries me greatly. have your Dr. double check everything and re x-ray you.

I'm to have to agree with Miss Wolf on this.

Go, now.

Whenever I have a headache that lasts more than a day this is the first thing I check, I have a hard time keeping hydrated and so I look to my food and drink intake first and formost. It would appear that this time it is not the issue. Thanks for the well wishes, I hope it's nothing serious as well

As for the lovely Miss Wolf and her suggestion (and tenet's agreeing with her for that matter): the reason I'm not as paranoid about getting my ass to the hospital is because of the nature of the headache, what with all our weird weather and the stress I've been going through lately it could easily be that those are the factors contributing to my issue. Taking my family's history with such things into account, however, I have scheduled an appointment for tomorrow to go sit in a funny smelling little room while my doctor asks me questions and decides whether or not he's going to send me running all over the hospital to various machines for the rest of the day/weekend.
I just hope they don't pull the same thing they did when I ripped up my knee, "Yes, it's imperative that you get an MRI done on that, leaving it much longer than a week if you've...blah, blah, blah..." They send me home and tell me I'll get a call about an appointment, A week later and still no call, so I call the office...long story short it was nearly three months after my injury that I finally got an MRI done, and it turns out there was a large bit of cartalidge knocked loose, and it turns out that what would have been a simple proceedure had they found out what was wrong the day of my injury has now turned into a need for one and possibly two proceedures, one of which involves sawing a bit of my shin bone out and stapling it in a new place, oh joy!

I really hate doctors...or well, maybe not the doctors they aren't always the problem, but the medical system here definitely gets no thumbs up from me

After what the doctor did last time I went in for a check-up, I don't blame you.

*shudders*

Good luck, hon.

...And I can't even find the fabric to make ONE dress. I mean, how hard can it be to find material in a 60's style puke-inducing green? And time's a-running out. I've probably got this weekend left to make the dratted thing and that's not even the end of it...

Okay, it was a little while ago, but my then-girlfriend and I were watching TV and this Teen Bootcamp show came on, where these troubled teens were caught lying or doing drugs or, in one case, 'just not listening to us', and they were shipped off to this bootcamp where counselors with names like 'Boulder' and 'Mountain Mist' had a hiking-dig your own shitholes-military schtick going, trying to impose values and a better way of being in the world, and I just wanted to say what a bunch of bullshit it all was. Better living through fear of nature and authority for the win. =\

And now in another case of:"How can this happen"...supermodel Naomi Campbell was arrested yesterday after throwing her cell phone at a housekeeper.

Is it just me,or has everyone had just about enough of celebrities always being 'above the law',and basically being able to commit any offense(no matter how heinous) and walk away virtually scot-free each time.

And in the rare instance the famous person is actually convicted of something, more often then not it ends up being just a slap on the wrist sort of punishment, say a few Hundred-Dollars for a fine(Compared to the Millions that person grossed last year). Nothing at all compared to what your regular Joe citizen would expect to receive for any comparable offense. When does the size of your bank account,or more importantly your popularity and fame, automatically guarantee a right to immunity for any offense in which you are charged?

Wasn't Naomi Campbell the one who bit her personal assistant?

To continue the can of worms that Betrothed2Death had started as a seperate topic-thread:

I am of African decent [I'm also of southern European decent, too, but that's besides the point.]. I was born, raised & oppressed to varying degrees in America. But I don't like being referred to the word "African-American". I prefer "Black" and/or "Nubian". They're 2 synonymous phrases describing the same race to me: Mine.

I hate laundry day.

I found a denim shirt in my dirty cloths. I have never worn and never will wear a denim shirt. Where the fuck did it come from?

I ate lunch at McDonald's (yuck--I never eat there but I was having a rough morning and it's comfort food) and it gave me horrible gas. It stinks in here.

My neighbor was supposed to get-up like an hour ago so we could hang-out. But he is not up yet and I don't like waking people up.

Is it too much to ask for a couple days of nice weather? I am tired of nice day/shitty day. Either be nice or be shitty. Damn!

Release the pain. I will take everything. I want to bleed like the pouring rain!

I'm so goth it hurts.

All your lost socks banded together and formed a collective in the form of a denim shirt. Beware!
