I am, unfortunately, entirely sober.
I'm wearing green though, since I quite like it (I figured people might be able to guess that since my username implies a lovely emerald-green liquid, albeit an evil one). I've got on a hunter-green velvet shirt today.

Have to add eating corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes to the list...I may be strange, but I love it to death...it's a very St. Patty's Day thing for my family

I'm actually (part) Irish, and I believe that I look the part. My first, middle, and family name are all Irish...
Why didn't anyone kiss me?
My "Ireland" shirt chafed my nipples in soccer practice.

Feel better, pretty eyes!
A big bowl of assorted fruit-salad and a joint usually helps me. You can skip the latter element if you're so inclined.

God. When I was sixteen and seventeen, I used to stay out getting wrecked till 3a.m. then be at work by eight. I wasn't exactly bright-eyed and bushy tailed, but I could get through the day without being too ropey. I'm only a few years older but a drunken night out followed by fewer than nine hours sleep is enough to floor me.
I feel like shit. And I'm out of weed, and money. Meh.

God, I wish I'd lived up to my name and done that instead. I went out in a group where I only knew two or three people well, and by the end of the night was installed in a house at the ropey end of town with a load of randoms, 18-22 year old pikeys, snorting coke and dancing maniacally to drum 'n' bass, occasionally taking a rest to complain about "the fuckin' Pakis". Hence the hangover - it was a painful experience which required anaesthetising, so I just grabbed a bottle, found a quiet corner and went for it.

And I have had a long, long drinking career.

Hmmmm ... 1? ... well, er ... it took me a lot of practice to get this good at not getting them ... hmm ...
I actually have had very few real hangovers, which is remarkable considering the amount of booze I've consumed.
I still remember the worst hangover I ever had. I was about 23-24. My buddy suggest we drink MD 20-20 and beer all night. Oooops! NEVER AGAIN!

The key to that little maneuver, is to tuck your chin as your swinging forward, so the top of your skull absorbs most of the blow..
I learned that one the hard way.. o.0
Funny how he is the one who tried to kiss you, but you're the one who gets escorted out. If the bouncers had been the one to kick his ass, it would have been fine right? But a female defends herself from a slimy guy and SHE is the one who gets kicked out..
Fucking double standard..
I'm sorry you came out the worse for wear, tell your man the only thing that will make you feel better is a thorough tongue lashing..
* pours you a LARGE Brandy*

Yeah...my mom was sick all week with a respitory infection, so we couldn't do the usual of waking at 6 to visit the family, clog, be merry and eat the crap my grandmother makes. We did get a 5 minute LONG distance call from my great-grandparents, though. They're fine and well, so that makes me as eased as a piano solo.

A wee bit 'o St. Paddy's history and stuff fer ye...
First, did you know until the mid 70's it was a national holiday in Ireland that was up there with Christmas? No stores, pubs, or anything were allowed to be open. They have since changed that and it's more of a party now.
And the wearing of the green. Anyone know where that comes from? There is a classic Irish song about it called 'The Wearing Of The Green' which you probably have heard a million times (its played everywhere but usually without lyrics in the states).
http://www.celtic-lyrics.com/forum/i...=lyrics&id=111
"O Paddy dear, and did ye hear the news that's goin' round?
The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground!
No more Saint Patrick's Day we'll keep, his color can't be seen
For there's a cruel law ag'in the Wearin' o' the Green."
I met with Napper Tandy, and he took me by the hand,
And he said, "How's poor ould Ireland, and how does she stand?"
"She's the most distressful country that ever yet was seen,
For they're hanging men and women there for the Wearin' o' the Green."
"So if the color we must wear be England's cruel red
Let it remind us of the blood that Irishmen have shed;
And pull the shamrock from your hat, and throw it on the sod
But never fear, 'twill take root there, though underfoot 'tis trod.
When laws can stop the blades of grass from growin' as they grow
And when the leaves in summer-time their color dare not show,
Then I will change the color too I wear in my caubeen;
But till that day, please God, I'll stick to the Wearin' o' the Green."
See, wearing Shamrocks, a symbol of Irish sovernty and independence was illegal under british law. Anyone caught displaying a shamrock on their person was shot and killed on sight. Today, the wearing of green on St Paddy's is a way to say 'FECK OFF' to the brits for their oppression. We will wear our green and our shamrocks and ye can kiss our arse!
Which in case you are wondering is póg mo thón (pronounced POGUE MA HONE), kiss me arse, which is also where the band 'The Pogues' got their name.
Now many say 'Happy Saint Patricks Day!', but the traditional Irish greeting on St Paddy's is 'St. Patrick's Day Blessing On You' which is responded to with 'And Many Happy Returns'.
Here is a few phrases, prounounciations, and translations for ye...
Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit
Prounounced: La ale-lah pwad-rig son-ah ditch
Happy St. Patrick's Day! (singular)
Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh
Prounounced: La ale-lah pwad-rig son-ah jeev
Happy St. Patrick's Day! (plural)
Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig!
Prounounced: Ban-ick-tee na fay-lah pwad-rig
St. Patrick's Day Blessings
*This is the common and most used in Ireland in the traditional language
Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig ort!
Prounounced: Ban-ick-tee na fay-lah pwad-rig ort
St. Patrick's Day Blessing On You (singular)
Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh!
Prounounced: Ban-ick-tee na fay-lah pwad-rig or-iv
St. Patrick's Day Blessing On You (plural)
And if yer out on St. Paddy's, note that we don't drink green beer in Ireland. We drink Guinness. We refer to green beer as that lepracan piss sold in the states You will need to learn the phrase...
Pionta Guinness, le do thoil
Pronounced: Pin-tah Guiness, le doh hull
A pint of Guiness, please
Or, my personal favorite to use...
Tabhair dom an rud céanna mar atá ag an fhear ar an urlár!
Prounounced: Toe-er do un rudd kear-nah marr ah-ta ig un arr air un urr-lar
Give me the same as the man on the floor!
And finally, a real Irish toast fer ye...
Caith siar é agus ná lig aniar é
(Drink it up and don't let it come back!)
And yes, I know I'm late wif da post, but better late than never. Plus, I blogged by St. Paddy's celebrations if anyone cares ta read about St. Paddys Day in Ireland...
