I know there's more to the post than this sentence, but it's funny if you read only this. Sounds sooo emo.

My suggestion is to get a straighner and make your hair straight, i cant spell, lol. then, get somthing short, dramatic and dark. My hair was like down to my butt for about 2 years, now its like down to my shoulders and has really choppy layers. somthing like this is dramatic, yet easy to care for.
Razors:
They Razored my hair, and it looks awsome.

My hair is so thin and fine, I can't really do anything good with it. It's so thin that if it get too long (only past my shoulders), it looks really, really bad. It's too thin and stick straight to layer, and I can't do bangs because: 1) my hair is so thin that when I cut bangs they look stringy and horrible; and 2) I have a stupid cowlick that makes my bangs (the one and only time I attempted them) stick straight out in that spot. I pretty much just keep it in a a-line-ish bob that falls just to my shoulders. I really only keep it that long because if it was any shorter, I wouldn't be able to pull it up in ponytails to attach falls. Falls are the saving grace for my hair! I wear either falls or clip in streaks pretty much every day, although with the clip in streaks, I only have a few places where I can attach them because my hair is so super thin that it doesn't cover up the wig clip well. My hair is too thin to support the weight of most dread falls, especially back-combed ones. I did just make a pair of falls out of Elysee Stars, which are much lighter than backcombed dreads, that seem to be doable for me, but mostly I just stick to loose hair falls because they're so much lighter.
If anyone is interested in trying their hand at making some clip in hair falls, the link below will take you to a mini-tutorial of sorts I posted on the DIY section of Gothic Beauty on how to make clip in falls with human or synthetic hair weft.

Nice tut. Useful and inspiring.
Would clips work for attaching stuff to very short hair? Mine's about two inches long on the top of my head, about half an inch to an inch on the sides, and I want to go out and terrify small children as a full-on cyberpunk for Halloween... For that, I want to attach neon-coloured scooby tube thingies and synthetic hair made into dreadlocks, but I don't have a clue *how* I'll get it to stay on my head, short of temporarily PVA glue-ing it on. :3

C130: Hmm, I don't think the clips that I make falls on would work (if I'm picturing your hair correctly). You would need to be able to put your real hair into a ponytail. The small wig clips that the clip in streaks are attached to (they are about 1" wide, and about 1/2" tall, could probably be attached to your real hair, but I think the weight of synth dreads would be too much for them. At 2 inches, your hair should be long enough to install dreads by braiding them in, although the thinner the dread the better for hair that short, and single enders would probably work better than double enders. There are some helpful tutorials here:
http://quinnster.fqdn.net/
And, you could join the Heavenly Hair Boards to ask any questions you might have. Unfortuantely, I don't really know anything about installing tubing, but I bet there's also a tutorial for that on Quinnster.

I'm really drawn to the idea of making a wig and leaving my own hair alone. I could go really creative with one of those. Are foot-long wigs expensive, and where usually sells them cheap, might you know? (Not premade wigs btw, just normal traditional "hairy" ones )

Greetings.
I'm new to this forum, so a warm hello to everyone. ^_^
I was just curious : I've got very long hair, but it's horrible looking and I'm looking for a nice neo-gothic styled hairstyle.
I am a male.
I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions? I need my hair styled, but I need some ideas before I walk into a stylist's.

First off sweetie, you might want to go introduce yourself in the introduction forum. Then we will answer your question.

My apologies if that seemed like an introduction.
I'd remove the warm hello had I the ability to edit my previous post.
I was curious about hairstyles, or just any styling tips for a long haired guy.

Ooh, awesome suggestion. ^_^
But alas, no, I'm not a part of Trinurgy.
Dreads actually sound like a nice idea, since it'd be easy for me to pull off at the length my hair is now.

I say whatever you do, leave it long. Men with long hair are sexy!!
Maybe you don't need to do anything dramatic with it...just get the ends trimmed. A proper trim can make a huge difference. If you're just looking for a bit of change but nothing extreme (like shaving it all off in frustration or something lol!), you could just curl or straighten it, or even color it. Look at different hairstyles online or in magazines. If you want something that takes more than 3 or 4 words to describe (ie, more than "dreadlocks" or "buzz" or "bowl cut"), a picture of it helps a lot. And don't let the stylist do something "trendy" unless it's exactly what you want and you absolutely agree. Believe me, I know how easy it is to go from two feet of gorgeous hair to a fauxhawk, and it ain't pretty!

Dreads to me are gross. But I say just keep it long, because long hair is sexy. And what I meant is just go to the introduction forum and introduce yourself there, that's why it is there sweetheart. But just keep your hair long, naturally long, that is sexy right there.

Yes, doll, hair. It's that stringy stuff on the top of your head?

I dyed the tips of my bangs red about a month ago, in a salon. The color has faded and I have heard that red hair dye fades very quickly. I read that if you buy a semi-permanent color that matches your current color, it will give a boost.
My natural hair color is a very dark brown, almost black. I have misplaced my bleach kit and I would very much like the color to return. I do not have $25 every month to shell out to the salon, just to dye the tips of my bangs, no blow-drying, which means I will have to walk back home with wet hair.
There are hair products there that claim to be formulated for people with dark hair. Would anyone know which is the best product that works best for people with dark hair?

I have very long hair. Not sure whether it qualifies as pretty though. I prefer it long & many of my friends tell me that I should never cut it shorter. But sometimes it is a bit of a chore to dye, wash, brush etc. it gets knotted & dirty fairly easily.

Ooh, but with pretty long hair you should have pretty hair things like this. That would look especially striking next to your dark hair.

I'm a natural blonde, and my skin is fairly white and Black hair just doesn't look good on me, but how can I make the Blonde hair work with the Black clothing?
